I'm pleased to announce that Dawn Girocco has joined our team as Senior Vice President, Advertising. Dawn brings nearly 25 years of advertising experience to the table and has managed sales for radio stations in Ohio, Texas, and here in LA at KIIS-FM/KHHT-FM.

Oh man...Zuma Dogg goes WAAAAAAAAAAY back with Dawn. We worked together at two radio stations (Toledo and Houston) and hung out and had fun during the best of times! (When you work in radio, especially outside Los Angeles, where Hollywood is based, you CANNOT have any more fun in a city than those who work behind the scenes in radio. (ZD and pals would cut through the LONGEST of lines and blow back the BIGGEST of bouncers upon our arrival. (And kinda the way it STILL is for ZD, to this day.)

Dawn is a really, really cool and it's amazing that Zell saw it! (Like a cool dude in a chick's body!) I spoke with Dawn a couple times, this summer, about the economy and the station she just left (Indie 103.1).

SO EVERYONE AT LOS ANGELES TIMES...ASK DAWN GIROCCO ABOUT THE EARLY YEARS OF ZUMA DOGG. Oh man, she didn't even kno about "Zuma Dogg" two months ago, and now she's working for the L.A. Times. (So much for the reunion!)

Dawn and Zuma Dogg both worked with, and were HIGHLY influenced, by THIS guy,

*Roy Laughlin was named senior VP and market manager of CBS Radio stations (KNX, KFWB, KTWV, KCBS, KROQ and KRTH). His new position starts on September 2 and will replace Jeff Federman.

Zuma Dogg says Roy is the single most talented radio executive in history!!! ZD was actually this guys room mate when I first moved to L.A. And the times ZD, Roy and Dawn had together in Houston were the BEST! Ask Roy about Ries & Trout, Dr. Deming. Roy and Dawn and ZD are like Antonio, Fabian and DeLeon. (Unfortunately, as I mentioned in yesterday's blog, I was always the creative guy and they were the sales/money side.)

Roy will tell you that ZD was a big inspiration to him, as well. (And ask Dawn about me!) I KNOW Roy misses the round the clock strategy sessions. When I blew into those radio stations, they were just as, "stunned and amazed" as Herb Wesson and City Council were when I blew into chambers.

The first thing Roy did when he arrived at KIIS-FM was hand out my "Interpreting Deming's 14 Points" to his staff...and now look him. So basically, Zuma Dogg is the only one of these three who worked together in the good old days who is a homeless, broke-ass loser...even though either one of these two would tell you I am the most legendary thing, ever.

DON'T CALL ME TODAY...WAAAAAAAAAY TOO BITTER AND ANGRY!
