FEDERAL AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING PAYMENTS TO L.A. CITY COUNCILMEMBER & FORMER SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER!!

ALSO HAPPENING IN LOS ANGELES:

Today was quite an "I TOLD YOU SO" moment at Tuesday's City Council meeting as Sally Choi and her pension posse showed up to paint out the doomsday scenario that IS the pension situation. I had a chance to speak with some of the city's top experts on the situation, because they couldn't walk away from ZD when they were waiting for the elevator. And I learned a lot in during the wait! So, I'll type it all up sometime soon. Bottom line: GONNA HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO FIRE PEOPLE. But here's a great blogging "tag team" on the topic. While ZD was in chambers putting stuff on the record during public comment on the matter, Ron Kaye put this post together along with some YouTube. Ron told me since it takes around six months to fire people (AND THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO), the only way to reduce the payroll (the word "drastic reduction" was used during the council meeting) is to eliminate entire departments. Either that, or a 10% give back, from all union employees across the board. And THAT ain't gonna happen, YET, at least. IT'S GONNA BE VERY, VERY BAD AND VERY, VERY UGLY.

And you wouldn't think Zuma Dogg and Julie Butcher would be feeling the same frustration, but she told me the frustrating part is that it doesn't appear that council is really doing anything. ZD says it's kinda like everyone looking at the wave ahead, but no one is steering the ship in any direction. IT IS SO OBVIOUS TO EVERYONE WATCHING THAT WE HAVE SOME VERY BAD NEWS AND AS USUAL COUNCIL IS TALKING ABOUT TALKING.

The early retirement isn't going to do the trick because it isn't nearly enough at the levels of member contribution; they ain't getting the money back from Wall Street unless they are SHORTING the market (which I don't think you can do with pension money...IT AIN'T RECOVERING, Y'ALL...YOU CANNOT BASE THE CITY'S ECONOMIC COMEBACK ON A WALL STREET RALLY IN THIS GLOBAL ECONOMY! AND, we do not have the money to pay for it in the general fund.

BUT AGAIN, the MAIN problem is Los Angeles City Council's inactivity. BERNARD PARKS IS THE ONLY ONE THEY SHOULD EVEN ALLOWED TO SPEAK ON THIS MATTER. THEY REALLY NEED TO PASS AN ORDINANCE TO LET UNCLE BERNIE TAKE OVER AND HANDLE THE MATTER IN A PRUDENT AND RESPONSIBLE MATTER. THE REST OF YOU ARE JUST NOWHERE'S-VILLE!
