Zuma Dogg As CITY's Councilmember...THE MOMENT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR...

As we approach the CD 2 City Council election, in a little more than a week from now (TUESDAY, September 22nd), I am imagining all things "the people have been waiting for" (waiting to see) if I was Councilmember.

Of course, hitting the button to speak up on the things we aren't currently hearing out of councilmembers, along with giving "community outreach" information to the community through the meetings -- without the 2 minute limit and all the restrictions that go along with "public comment" is the most basic day-in and day-out value.

But here's something that could be a very exciting, pivotal Citywide moment with ZD as CM:

As you know, City Council is kind of a reactive, irresponsible body for the most part and many times (on some pretty BIG TICKET agenda items), they are caught with their pants down at the last minute. And sometimes, if they don't all agree and vote during that meeting with a "unanimous vote," the item will have to come back for a "second reading" and second vote (only requiring a majority, rather than a unanimous vote) the next week.

HOWEVER, when it IS the last minute, and last day to pass the item (the ones requiring a unanimous vote on the first vote);

ALL IT WOULD TAKE ON THOSE CERTAIN (VERY BAD AND EXPENSIVE SHADY ITEMS OR BALLOT MEASURES THAT ZUMA DOGG WOULD LOSE HIS SKI CAP OVER) -- IS MY ONE (1) "No" VOTE...

AND THE ITEM WOULD BE KILLED!

And trust me, it's the items that come flying in at the last minute, over millions and millions of dollars...that they are so frantic to blow through as quickly as possible (like "Measure B" -- and things like "ECAF," "Ethics," and "golf cart concessions" that came through the agenda recently) sometimes they don't have NEARLY enough time to understand it all and work out any kinks in the item since they are in a last-minute rush -- and you sometimes have CMs voting on something they are not really comfortable with. A "no" vote, requiring a second reading could thwart a super-shady effort, when it is required to come back the next week for a second reading, AFTER A DEADLINE TO MAKE SOMETHING ON THE BALLOT, OR OTHER TIME SENSITIVE ITEM.

SO IT'S THOSE COUPLE/FEW TIMES A YEAR, when the chips are down...and something REALLY BIG AND REALLY SHADY AND PERHAPS OVER TENS OR HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF SHADY DOLLARS -- OR SOME PROJECT OR PROGRAM THE PEOPLE ARE IN OUTRAGE OVER...that would otherwise make it through...WILL BE ABLE TO BE THWARTED WITH MY SINGLE "NO" VOTE!

I DO NOT THINK PAUL KREKORIAN, TAMAR GALATZAN OR CHRISTINE ESSEL WOULD GO AGAINST THE GRAIN LIKE THAT. They may say they are independent or you may say, "Well, at least Tamar is better than the other two," but I doubt any of the three would have the independence to pull the pull on the shady party like a parent pulling the plug on the out of control late night high school party.

AND WHEN THE PEOPLE SEND A MESSAGE THAT THEY WANT ZUMA DOGG IN THE COUNCIL SEAT, THAT MESSAGE WILL BE TO ME, ALSO. AND ALTHOUGH I'M NOT BEING SENT TO SHUT DOWN THE CITY...I FEEL THAT WHEN IT COMES TIME TO STAND UP AND SHUT DOWN THE RIGHT ITEMS AT THE RIGHT TIME, WHEN THEY HAVE ONE OF THEIR MANY "BAD NEWS BEARS" MOMENTS...

I'LL PULL THE PLUG WITH A "NO" VOTE, WHEN A UNANIMOUS "YES" VOTE IS THEIR ONLY HOPE.

And THAT, my friend's...will be the moment we have been waiting for!
