Zuma Dogg on SB 1818 (Density Bonus) -- FROM February 2008! (2008, not just 2009, y'all!)

Oh man! Michael Higby just posted a great post called "Was Zuma Dogg Right About Infrastructure" in response to the Valley Village/Studio City water main break, business and home damage, loss of service, road closures and fire truck falling into sink hole over the lack of proper infrastructure to accommodate all their density...AND THEN, SB 1818 came around to make matters worse! And in Higby's post, he linked to an old post of mine, when SB 1818 was just coming through the agenda and I didn't like what I saw and brought it to the public's attention via my blog and public comment. I'm like Hawkeye Pierce of M*A*S*H and am going through so many agenda items, I FORGOT ABOUT THIS ONE. (Striesand karaoke voice: Me-moriiiiiies...light the corrrrrrrrrners of my mind!"

So yes, thanks for remind me to add, "The original SB 1818 hater, before it became top of mind, talk of the town." Zuma Dogg for City Council!

City Council Approves New Density Incentive That Is A Virtual Zoning Change (And There Ain't Enough Water, Infrastructure or City Services For It All)

Tuesday February 12, 2008

It's a long-ass, shady as hell new ordinance on the LA City Council agenda today. Looks like a GREAT day to be a developer with all the right connections with LAANE/CRA/Villaraigosa and his connected cohorts in the high density housing business.

It'll take a minute to type up a comedy review exposing all the shady angles, but basically, if you agree to add 10% affordable housing; a developer can increase density by 20% on your project. 20% affordable housing=35% added density "bonus" (incentive).

PLUS, the developers can now get more State and Federal grant money for these projects. And I'll re-post the threads from last summer about "there is a lot of profit to be made in the non-profit, affordable housing racket.)

Click here for today's agenda item on "density bonus"
that will bring the city to a grinding halt, and create so much over crowdedness that crime is certain to skyrocket.

And oh yeah, are you adding 35% more roads, police, fire, trash collection AND WATER!!! THERE IS NOT ENOUGH WATER TO ACCOMMODATE ALL OF THIS ADDED DENSITY -- AND YOU KNOW THIS. AND YOU WILL NEED WATER TO COOL YOU OFF BASED ON WHERE YOU ARE ALL HEADED FOR THIS. Besides the infrastructure -- THIS WILL CAUSE A SERIOUS WATER PROBLEM!!! WARNING...WARNING...THIS IS NOT A TEST!!!

Back to 9/8/09: WOW, forgot how much I always hated that SB 1818. (Isn't my innocent discovery (stumbling across) of the item charming in it's naivety at the time?) Must have just caught my attention coming through the agenda. AND NOW IT'S THE TALK OF THE CITY!!!
DO NOT BE BAMBOOZLED...ZUMA DOGG FOR CITY COUNCIL!
