Greetings Concerned LA Resident –
Thank you for being involved with the campaign to recall Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. We have completed the first 30 days for the campaign and our volunteer staff is thankfully overwhelmed with inquiries.
However, we still have 10’s of thousands of signatures to gather and I hope you will continue to be a leader in changing the failed leadership in our city. Should we succeed, every future elected official will realize the power of our citizens.
Here are few things you can do:
· Continue gathering qualified signatures from your friends, neighbors, civic groups, etc.;
· Set a personal goal for the number of signatures you wish to gather as well as the number of other volunteers you will get involved;
· Encourage and educate others to be volunteer signature gathers;
· Post this effort to you social networking sites and encourage others to sign up for updates on the website,http://losangeles.craigslist.
· Organize a group to gather signatures and contact us for Petitions, instructions, information, etc. – host a training party – we’ll come give the training, bring materials;
· Consider gathering signatures at your local farmer’s market – ask the information booth where the free speech area is - let us know if you have questions about gathering signatures at markets, festivals or retail locations;
· Schedule one of our volunteer staff to speak at your next civic meeting, social group, religious affiliation, etc. We’d be glad to speak and bring all necessary materials.
We are also in need of financial contributions. We have almost exhausted our first case of petitions and need to pay for another print run. Please consider making a $10 - $20 donation online so we can print more petitions, buy more postage and envelopes. We only need a few hundred dollars to cover these expenses.
If you know someone who can/would consider a larger contribution, please let us know. The Committee to Support the Recall of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa wants to hire signature gathers but large donations are needed to make that happen. The maximum donation any single party can make is $1,000.00. Therefore, we are going to need many supporters.
Also, The Committee does not have to be the recipient of funds to pay signature gathers. Another group can choose to organize this activity separate from the Recall Committee. Let us know if you have any potential larger donors or activity sponsors in mind or if you have any questions about election rules, etc., when it comes to donating or sponsoring.
We have a busy summer ahead. I hope to celebrate with you after we submit our signatures to the Clerk.
