After three years of attending the Los Angeles City Council meetings, and going over a year without missing a single meeting, where I speak during general public comment and various agenda items, throughout the meetings, as required by the Brown Act (State of California) and the First and Fifth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution, as the guy on the playing field, day in and day out, I am here to tell you Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti is single-handely and autocratically enforcing non-laws in violation of State and Federal laws as mentioned above. IN SHORT: Garcetti can't take recent high-profile, big-ticket heat from Zuma Dogg and a few other speakers who speak Zuma-talk and is simply BANNING them, first from two meetings, on the way to a one-way ticket away from the microphone for six months.
And if you know me over these past three years, you know that although there are constant rude, and I say illegal interruptions (in violation of Brown Act and compliant with all U.S. free speech protections), HOWEVER, we've been able to carry on and pick things up the next day.
RECENTLY, GARCETTI HAS BANNED A COUPLE OTHER SPEAKERS FOR TWO DAYS (which also paves the way for them to enforce a six month ban, should they so flippantly and arrogantly decide.)
And they may not have liked it, but they are not bloggers who consider them a First Amendment Freedom Fighter (when needed) FIRST, because it is the FIRST Amendment, the FIRST, most basic U.S. right. And people say, "Let it slide. Just move on."
BUT I AM HERE TO SAY, EVERYTHING ELSE IS AT RISK NOW THAT THE LINE HAS BEEN PUSHED BACK EVEN FURTHER THAN THE INITIAL CRACKDOWN A COUPLE; YEARS AGO. (They passed "rules of decorum" that do not allow for singing (vocal inflections) or dancing (physical movement is a protected freedom of speech medium of expression); and now more recently, I was interuppted and warned for using a "funny" sounding voice during my speech, which means they are enforcing vocal inflections. (What's next, mandatory monotone?) And Eric interrupts me asking me to "lower my voice" when there is no standard of measure and no law against speaking loud. IT'S NOT YELLING. IT'S NOT EVEN SHOUTING. IT'S JUST PROJECTING AND TRYING TO HEAR MYSELF THINK OVER THEIR LOUD TALKING IN THE BACKGROUND.
Like that evil international terrorist in "Lethal Weapon 2" who kept saying, "Diplomatic immunity" every time he pulled some bullshit in violation of the spirit and reach of "diplomatic immunity," Eric Garcetti is constantly hiding behind, "We have discretion."
I just spoke with an attorney I respect who says that "discretion" is VERY LIMITED. At first they said there is no discretion like that (as ZD described) and then added, "discretion is very limited."
AND ZUMA DOGG SAYS THE DISCRETION IS NOW GOING TOO FAR.
SO IT IS TIME TO PULL THE ALARM AND ALERT THE MASSES:
FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS UNDER THE ATTACK OF LOS ANGELES CITY COUNICLMEMBER (CD 13) ERIC GARCETTI. Not to be confused with his dad, Gil Garcetti. (Rich Llewellyn worked for Gil, then Eric and the "Garcetti" name, I know it's confusing.)
BUT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT ERIC GARCETTI, NOT GIL:
And since this is the time I would ususally be at the City Council meeting, expressing my freedom of speech, that is obviously too much for Eric to endure anymore, now that it has come to light that Obama is upset at L.A. City Hall in the way they spent the FEDERAL stimulus money; the pension money lost in CRA projects; and overall $7 BILLION dollar loss of pension money in non-investment grade Wall Street investments and crony-connected Downtown real estate projects that were not such a good investment. (See CRA's Grand Ave Project. They had to pull out after Zuma Dogg caused a fuss.)
So with "Bankruptcy Protection" abilities being discussed at last week's council meeting, and Zuma Dogg piling on with all the stuff about the $7 Billion loss, and the fact that THEY approved the pension commissioners who are now being investigated by every major investigator on the U.S. portion of the continent...
THERE'S A LOT TO KEEP QUIET...Like Zuma Dogg.
So since this was the time I would be at the meeting, I will use it to blog ALL ABOUT ERIC GARCETTI and reasons why he is a bad councilmember who should not be trusted, is responsible for many of the problems you are outraged about in this city, will tell a senior citizen community members he supports them...then hang em out to dry when he opens the roll, steamrolls the roll, bamboozlates the vote.
And then, hopefully it will be business as usual on Tuesday; except now, Zuma Dogg does not even want any of the non-compliant, interrupting bullshit AT ALL...Make sure if it is not absolutely a legal violation, you do not interrupt me per actual laws such as Brown Act and U.S. constitution. It doesn't matter that you made some fake rules because you are trying to run a Ritz-Carlton. The law protects the people from speaking beyond what is comfortable in a Ritz-Carlton.
Sorry my man. I don't like having to do this. I like things to be somewhat comfortable and can appreciate you and even admire you for certain things. But I don't have money, and fake laws and people with handcuffs and guns to back me up. And I don't have money or energy to go through the legal B.S. So I gotta stick up for my rights and try to get you to be compliant, and now I will looking for FULL COMPLIANCE, WITH A ZERO BULLSHIT POLICY,
AND, for the first time, I have started making calls and leaving messages with some attorney offices. We'll see the guy from the streets can take it to the courts. (And not the basketball courts, son.)
SO ZUMA DOGG'S LA DAILY BLOG GOES ALL ERIC GARCETTI UNTIL ZUMA DOGG FEELS THERE IS A SEMBLENCE OF REAL FREEDOM OF SPEECH...AND NOW IT HAS TO BE REAL FREEDOM OF SPEECH, NOT THE BULLSHIT 1/2 WAY STUFF I HAVE BEEN LIVING WITH!
