Controller Greuel Unveils Audit Report Card;
Urges Action to Save LA Millions (As opposed to TAKING Action)
LOS ANGELES – As students throughout Los Angeles return to classes this week, City
Controller Wendy Greuel joined with business, civic and labor leaders today to announce she is unveiling a report card that evaluates how successful City departments have been in implementing audit recommendations.
The audit report card, also known as a scorecard, is part of an ongoing effort by the Controller to increase accountability in City government while identifying more funds for essential city services. The audit scorecard will be updated on Greuel’s Web site monthly. To date, Greuel has conducted more than 40 audits and uncovered lost savings opportunities of more than $100 million.
“Right now Los Angeles’ economy is still struggling to rebound and the City can’t afford to leave millions of dollars on the table,” said Greuel. “The outstanding recommendations should be implemented so any savings can be put to use.”
Greuel’s scorecard has already earned itself supporters among Los Angeles civic leaders and business leaders, who applauded her push to have audit recommendations made as public as possible.
