L.A. City Budget Cuts Begin: Villaraigosa Tells Parks & Rec to Cut 40%!!!

Zuma Times has heard that Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has told the Parks & Recreation Department to cut the budget by a massive 40%!!! (Forty percent!)

There department is already operating with a 20% staff vacancy rate. (Meaning they are operating with 80% of the staff, with 20% shaved off already.) So now we are talking an additional 40% cut in budget that will mean massive cuts in services like maintenance and everything else.

Zuma's Batcomputer estimates this means the Park and Rec staff will be operating at about the 50% level. (But you better do your own math.)

Meanwhile, the City still continues to provide tax breaks and subsidies to developers and other fat cats and pick up the tab for Dodger's events, Grammy parties, American Music Award parties, Playboy Mansion parties and all kinds of corporate events (even though this fee waiver is supposed to be reserved for open to the public events that benefit the community.)

So, the budget cuts are on...first up: Parks & Rec...40% cut.
