By now you have heard about Chris Blatchford's Fox 11 News story that claims Los Angeles City Councilmember Janice Hahn has been handing over taxpayer money earmarked for community intervention programs (non-profits) to people who are actually part of the problem, not the solution (to put it lightly), according to LAPD officers. See Fox 11 News story for more.)
ZumaTimes.com's Publisher/Editor, Zuma Dogg, had a chance to spend some time speaking with Councilmember Janice Hahn on Friday April 2, 2008 to discuss the matter.
First of all, of course she is frustrated by the report. starting off wondering aloud to ZD how you can combat two nights' worth of reports of Fox 11? (They did a follow-up on night two. Click here.)
She said, "You're the media guy, what do you think?"
So she was either trying to win me over by embracing me, or is really trying to figure it out. So I took it as a strategy challenge, and immediately said, "Is this a hit piece put out by the mayor's office or city attorney's office?" (Cause those two offices are run by slime-bag, a-holes -- and both offices have political reasons to attack Janice, in the opinion of Zuma Dogg. Especially, if Prop R is overturned and Janice is forced to run for mayor against "One-Term Tony" Viagraosa.)
But Hahn immediately shot back, "No, it's the two cops in the story?" And she went on to make it clear to ZumaTimes.com readers that there was no truth to what they were saying.
So Janice was real quick to dismiss that Villaraigosa or Dellgadilldo could have had any hand in the uncovering of this story, which ZD says is the worst kept secret in City Hall and has been blogged about with repetitive specificity on Mayor Sam's blog. (There really wasn't anything in the Fox 11 story that hasn't been blogged about relentlessly on the comment section of the Mayor Sam blog...but now it is a new story, which kinda makes it something you can now put in a wheelbarrow. (Now it's much more tangible/focal point for discussion/mainstream/credibility.)
So there is no chance that the mayor and/or city attorney could have had anything to do with the release of this story, just as Douchearosa is taking over control of all things gang intervention related! (The whole story is due to the two LAPD officers, and there is no truth to any of it, whatsoever. End of story!)
So I said, "Well, gee...is it possible that perhaps you helped fund a program where some money was wasted or misappropriated -- and you weren't aware of it?"
CM Hahn, once again, needed no time to fire back, "No", before I could even finish the sentence.
So I guess there truly is no need for any of these audits; or for any added levels of transparency or accountability, because Janice assures us that there is no chance that anything shady could have happened behind her back, unknowingly. (ZD was trying to work with her, and give her something to work with.)
BUT NOW WE SEE THE FLAW THAT BRINGS 'EM DOWN, EVERY TIME:
I said to Janice, "Well, if it isn't true, and you are sure you can withstand the scrutiny, then you come out full-force with strong statements saying they are full of it and it's all lies."
And I see she did that on Fox 11 News as a follow-up to their report: Hahn told Fox 11 News, “The allegations in the story that was run by Fox 11 last night are outrageous, ridiculous and false. The entire story was based on statements made by desperate criminal gang members that would say anything to avoid going to jail. I have never paid these gang members, never had them work for me nor have I ever helped them to get out of jail. My office records are public information and I invite Fox News to review them before making false allegations.
As disturbing as it is to see a criminal thug trying to save himself from going to jail by falsely claiming he was paid by my office, even more shocking was the false and misleading implication that I endorsed their criminal behavior.”
ONLY ONE PROBLEM, Y'ALL...Why did you tell ZumaTimes.com that it was only because of the two LAPD officers?
So you already seem to be telling different stories to different people. So my first suggestion as Council's Chief Political Strategist would be to figure out who you are going to blame it on, and stick to that story.
But the second problem, is that just as ZD was making progress with Hahn, one of her annoying staffers (her chief of staff) had to butt in and micro seconds later, Janice was saying things like, "I'm not ready to make any further comments because of the lawsuit."
BULLSHIZNIT!!! Hahn is gonna make the mistake of listening to her staff of insulators, who don't know marketing strategy in the first place, besides fear-based, "duck and cover" avoidance behavior, instead of a more strategic Sun-Tzu "Art of War" strategy. (But these City Hall staffers and their bosses are a bunch of inept goofballs; hence the laughing stock of the national cable news channels.)
So here's the problem: You give Zuma Dogg a challenge (to try and combat the Fox 11 News story) and you are sending me out there with, "It's all lies based on two LAPD officers and there is no chance that anything could have gone wrong behind my back, outside of my knowledge."
Daaaaaaaaaaaaamn...that's not at all what Zuma Dogg and Associates would be saying:
Here's what our strategy firm would have suggested:
In response to the claims in the Fox 11 News story. Keep in mind, all the people saying these things have something to gain by making these claims, whether it's a lawsuit or reduced sentence. Usually, you would expect to see some documentation of such allegations before such claims are made. But with that said, I want to assure the community; who may be troubled and concerned by what they have heard...I too am outraged if people participating in these programs, that are supposed to be part of the solution, are actually part of the problem. And I can see that I'm going to have to meet with leaders of all of these programs and take measures to insure that all of the money given to these programs is being used to support the community in the spirit in which it is intended. (You don't want to call for an audit, we all know. So I left that out. This goes far enough for now.)
More to come.
