Editor Carolina Garcia announced that Daily News reporter (from the Ron Kaye era) Beth Barrett is out the door like so many others over there as they shift focus to accommodate the Latino population. (CM Richard Alarcon told me their new target is "Latino.")
This is an interesting comment from the "out the door as we transform into a socialist propaganda tool" memo issued by Carolina:
"Not the least of which was her exclusive on LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's affair with a television reporter that made national and international headlines..."
(So how much you wanna bet that's why she's outta there?)
Garcia also adds, "Over the years she has broken high-profile stories on everything from inflated DWP worker salaries and City Hall overspending to police suicide rates, and gang violence patterns and trends. Her decades of experience this year earned her the honor of being named SPJ-LA's Distinguished Journalist of the Year. She is a stellar journalist.
