Zuma's Recap of McIntyre's KABC "Jamiel's Law" Rally/Live Broadcast

Congratulations and thanks to Doug McIntyre and his KABC Morning Show staff and additional thanks to Kevin James (who helped promote the event and issue)!

An overwhelming success of an event today in front of Jack Weiss' Beverly Hills Council office for the "Jamiel's Law" Rally/LIVE Broadcast on 790-KABC. (JamielsLaw.com)

Hundreds (200-300?) gathered on the sidewalk and spilled into the driveway in front of Jack Weiss' Beverly Hills Council Office to put public pressure on Jack Weiss (who is running for City Attorney) to hear the Zine/Smith motion sitting in Weiss' Public Safety Committee that would open up the discussion on a council motion that would make some revisions to Special Order 40.

And there are signs that the public pressure is working, because Weiss announced yesterday that he would hear the motion in his committee in October. And although that's too far away, at least it is a sign that this public pressure campaign is being felt by City Hall. And Zuma Dogg says it is no coincidence that Weiss made this announcement as this rally was being promoted on the air.

THE EVENT: It's hard to say it was an "up-lifting" event when it is a gathering over such a sad events. But at least I can say that Ms. Bologna who flew in from San Fransisco and Anita Shaw were taking pictures together for the crowd, and by the end of the event, both ladies had smiles for those cameras. So I think these events serve as a healing process for these families, too...because you can't help but be uplifted by the overwhelming support and comments from hundreds of strangers. And I DO think it helped uplift these people's spirits (at least for the time) -- which is everyone's main concern.

KFI was there to cover this KABC event that KRLA also promoted, so that is QUITE a commentary. KTLA was there, along with other media cameras and microphones.

Carmen Trutanich, who is running against Jack Weiss for City Attorney, was there and let me tell you folks -- a lot of regular people were shaking his hand and happy to meet him. And ZD, Doug and Kevin helped introduce Mr. Trutanich to on-lookers. When it was announced that Weiss was running for City Attorney, Nuch must have felt pretty good about the loud "boos" that the crowd broke out with in unison.

Connie, from Judicial Watch, was there who filled ZD in on the latest from their office. (They are working on this issue, too.)

I've seen Jamiel, Sr. speak a lot now, but to see him on that poduim on the sidewalk with the morning sun beaming down, with the cameras and hundreds of onlookers...WOW! He DID start crying up there, and I think it was his most emotion-packed, effective, hearbreaking, tear-jerking speech ever. I don't have kids, but WOW...no one has ever painted such a "real" picture or glimse into what it must be like. (THE GUY LOOKS PRETTY REGULAR, BUT THIS GUY IS THE MOST COMPELLING PUBLIC SPEAKER ANYWHERE. TIME STANDS STILL WHEN HE TALKS.)

Then, Fox 11 interviewed Mr. Shaw LIVE for their morning news broadcast and he tore it up. Meanwhile, KFI was waiting to interview him -- and I stood by and listened as Jamiel, Sr. delivered a speech for KFI. And again, the guy just stands there and calmly rambles off a stream-of-conscious of the most un-arguable, slam-dunk, common sense arguments -- and this issue ain't going away. I've said all along, that ZD feels a BIG reason this issue continues to connect with people is beacuse of the way the Shaw's are articulating their plea in the media. (You got people like Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton trying to pull off what Shaw spews out in a real and effortless way.)

So to sum it up: Not a good day for Jack Weiss. After months of talk radio bringing attention to this issue that the LA Times and LA City Hall continues to ignore, hundreds of people showed up today for an event that was supposed to (and DID) put pressure on the politicians, but the side benefit of the event is that it was a wonderful community gathering that felt very uplifting and hopefully filled a little bit of the void the family members feel with all their new "community family".

(The KFI interview was a lot better, cause he got to "ramble" but this gives you an idea.)
