Zuma Dogg attended this week's Los Angeles Board of County Supervisors meeting, and let me tell you...it was a horrifying experience. Not because former Chair Zev Yaroslobsky still thinks he's not only the Chair, but a better Chair than Yvonne Burke, who he was speaking on behalf of/Brown Act violation/Lawsuit for County -- but because they were discussing "Health Care" as in MLK Hospital, the idea of an appointed Health Care official in charge of oversight; and the whole enchilada. And let me tell you...not to try and dump a bunch of bad PR on the Supes, just for sport...but seriously...IT'S HOPELESS!!!
PROBLEM #1: The FIRST F*CKING THING Dr. Deming would do if you hired him at $50,000 an hour (yes, he charged $50,000 AN HOUR, just to be sure you were serious and would REALLY listen) is have you draw a flow chart of how a widget would move through the process. (Chain of command.) Well, after attending yesterday's meeting, I can see why. The first problem, is no one is really sure who reports to who; or who is in charge of who and what. Or how the Supervisors can get their information. And all the Board of Supervisors do is sit up there in their big, gigantic seats and make accusations and ask a bunch of questions. But I have NEVER heard any leadership in which a BOS takes charge and offers solutions as to what should be done. Just a never ending loop of the same questions and exhortations, OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!! (Check the playback for how many times Zev says the same thing, OVER AND OVER AND OVER.) I HAVE ZERO CONFIDENCE THAT ANYTHING WILL IMPROVE REGARDING MLK OR HEALTH CARE AT THE COUNTY LEVEL. (CM Parks says that is his #1 priority, maybe he can do something, but no offense to him either, I don't think any one can really change this beuracratic, tangled web, because you have egos and greed involved, too, with the current board. They don't want to let workers go. But Zuma Dogg says you better start privatizing on the quickness. Because with more and more density being approved and constructed, that means more crime; and that means more need for emergency rooms. And with the economy on the downturn, more people will be taking to the streets for the first time and that will increase ER demand. (More density means more crime means more ER!)
AND SERIOUSLY, Deming would also say, if the house is buring, JUST STAMP IT OUT...don't sit there and start pointing fingers as to who started the fire, and why did this fire start, and how can we be more careful to insure this fire won't start again? JUST STAMP IT OUT!!! But they will ride this thing into a Countywide disaster zone that will need a Federal bailout. Which will be in the form of grant money to private health care operators.
No offense to any of the five Board of County Supervisors, but when I ask if anyone has heard of Dr. Deming, and no one raises their hand. IT'S OVER!
AND NOW...
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I HAVE EVER SAID:
IF I WAS ONLY ALLOWED TO BLOG ONE SENTENCE EVER,
TO HELP IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF THE CITY AND COUNTY...
IT IS:
"YOU MUST EMBRACE DR. DEMING'S 14 Points OR PEOPLE WILL BE FLEEING TO TIJUANA FOR AN UPSCALE EXPERIENCE."
The day LA City Council and Board of Stupidvisors can explain back "Interpreting Deming's 14 Points" as written by Zuma Dogg and as published internationally and as acclaimed by Deming among other Fortune 500 executives...IS THE DAY ZUMA DOGG CAN FINALLY RETIRE TO MALIBU BECAUSE YOU WILL HAVE BECOME THE MASTER!
Can't do anything about the "corruption" mindset, but even corrupt-racketeering elected officials want the rest to go smoothly and save as much money everywhere else!
