Governor Schwarzesissy has until the end of the month to APPROVE or VETO Drivers Licenses For Those Who CANNOT Prove AUTHORIZED U.S. PRESENCE!

Senate Bill No. 60: Driver’s License to those who cannot prove authorized presence in U.S. (Aka: "Illegals"). Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has until September 30, 2008 to either sign into law or veto the bill.

Voice your opinion on this legislation by calling Gov. Schissynegger’s Sacramento Office (916) 445-2841.

OF COURSE THIS CAN NEVER ACTUALLY PASS, BECAUSE IT WOULD CAUSE SUCH MASSIVE AND UNFATHOMABLE TRAFFIC GRIDLOCK, THE DAY YOU ALLOW ALL OF THESE MILLIONS OF "NON-DOCUMENTED" U.S. RESIDENTS TO JOIN THE TRAFFIC FLOW! (THERE WON'T BE ANY TRAFFIC FLOW!) Plus, you may as well send out invitations for the rest of the world to sneak on over! First thing we do is hand you a drivers license and entitlement money.

Current Law provides that the Department of Motor Vehicles shall "require every applicant for an original driver's license or identification card to submit satisfactory proof that the applicant's presence in the United States is authorized under federal law," and requires the department to verify the authenticity of any submitted documents. In addition, existing law provides that "the department shall require every application for a driver's license to contain the applicant's social security number and any other number or identifier determined to be appropriate by the department."

Senate Bill 60 would allow persons that do not have legal presence in the United States to be eligible to apply for a driver's license or identification card, and it would permit applicants to substitute a federal taxpayer identification number for a social security number where required by the department. (A "federal taxpayer identification number" is a nine-digit number issued by the Internal Revenue Service for wage and tax reporting purposes to employees that are not eligible to be issued a social security number.)

This bill requires the Department of Motor Vehicles
(DMV) to issue drivers' licenses and identification cards
to persons who are not able to demonstrate legal presence
status.
This bill further repeals the section prohibiting DMV from
issuing an original driver's license or identification card
to applicants who cannot demonstrate that their presence is
authorized under federal law on the date the Secretary of
State receives the notice of determination from the DMV
Director.

Finally, this bill deletes the provision that it is a
misdemeanor for any person to assist knowingly in obtaining
a driver's license or identification card for any person
whose presence in the United States is not authorized under
federal law, and upon receipt by the Secretary of State of
the notice of determination from the DMV Director, instead
makes it a misdemeanor for any person to assist knowingly
in obtaining a driver's license or identification card that
is in violation of the Real ID Act.
