Breaking News: ZUMA DOGG Issues Opinion on City of L.A. Paying For Cost of Michael Jackson Memorial at Staples Center (A Global Commercial Event)

SAW THIS COMMENT ON MAYOR SAM'S BLOG AND IT INSPIRED ME TO ISSUE AN OPINION REGARDING THE CITY LOOKING TO BE STUCK WITH THE TAB FOR THE MICHAEL JACKSON MEMORIAL AT STAPLES ON TUESDAY:

"AEG operates Staples Center and don't require permits. THEY aren't closing streets so no approval process is required. Ever occur to you morons that the city is reacting to an event that is going to happen anyway and is trying to make the best of it?"

ZD: If you want to be upset that the city is granting a "special event fee" waiver to AEG for the event itself, that's one thing. Because although this is under the guise of a "memorial" which it is, in spirit, to the people who will attend, it is actually a commercial event, with TV broadcasts and rights and merchandise and whatnot. So consider it like you typical Lakers, Disney on Ice, Bruce Springsteen concert, or any other commercial event at Staples.

WELL, the city shouldn't be picking up the tab/special event fee waiver for that any more than Dodgers, Vanity Fair, Grammies or any of the other commercial events I complain about:

HOWEVER, when it comes to city money having to be spent for crowd control (maintenance, traffic, police, fire, EMS, etc.), I think it's unfortunate that the city will need to spend money on all of that now, but I think there is no choice.

PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE TICKETS WILL BE SHOWING UP ANYWAY. It is not Staples fault people without tickets will be showing up, anyway.

Consider it like a fire breaking out, or some other emergency event that you have to pay for.

MICHAEL JACKSON DIED. And there are very few people in this entire world that generates this type of outpouring and could generate this type of crowd. So what are you going to do?

WOULD IT BE NICE IF AEG/JACKSONS/INVOLVED PARTIES HELPED PAY FOR PART OR ALL OF IT:

HELL YEAH! Because not that I presented my argument, I would also like to add this is a big money-making, commercial, spectacle, event that is being fabricated in the true spirit of the type of PR stunts Michael orchestrated his entire career. So it's all par for the course and he must be looking down LOVING all of this.

But yeah, these big business people are using the city of los angles as the stage for their PR marketing machine to turn Michael into the next Elvis type of industry. And he deserves all the hype and hoopla, because he is getting the hype and hoopla.

So yeah, just cause ZD feels if he were to evaluate things from a strictly "legal/municipal/public safety issue, I say, "City should be saying, "NO" to the waiver of the event fee for the event itself, cause it ain't like this is even the actual funeral, but like that SNL sketch from the 70's when Elvis' JACKET went on tour.

But the crowd of knucklehead sheep that show up to an event without a ticket, just because they want to be a part of the crowd...WELP, I say the city is screwed and they have to pay for the crowd control.

This is a unique situation, because you have a rare individual who generates more "energy/karma/reaction" than basically, anyone of our lifetime. And possibly, for all future time.

So like Run-DMC said, "It's like that, and that's the way it is."

NOW FUCKING PONY UP AEG, YOU OVERLY SUBSIDIES COMMERCIAL PHONY WHO IS EXPLOITING MICHAEL JACKSON, BUT AT LEAST THE PEOPLE GET THEIR CHANCE TO PUBLICLY GRIEVE TOGETHER.

LIKE IT OR NOT, a person this HUGE and you are going to have to provide an outlet for the masses to gather. Sorry it's only a non-elected, pop singer.

[Sorry folks, I know a lot of you probably may be adamently disagreeing with me for the first time and you may wonder why I am saying this. I am always willing to change my opinion on something as I hear and learn more. But for now...The Dogg has spoken!
