City Council Candidate "Zuma Dogg" Weighs In On Runaway Hollywood Produciton in L.A.

PAUL KREKORIAN: Says he did a whole bunch of stuff as Assemblymember to prevent Hollywood film and TV jobs from running away. Guess it didn't work too good. HOW could he even MENTION that he took measures when it has all GONE.

CHRIS ESSEL: Same thing. HOW CAN YOU STAND THERE AND SAY YOU DID SO MUCH TO KEEP HOLLYWOOD JOBS IN TOWN WHEN THEY ALL LEFT??? I AM SERIOUSLY CONFUSED AS TO HOW EITHER ONE OF THESE CANDIDATES CAN MAKE CLAIMS OF WHAT A GREAT JOB THE DID OR WHAT MEASURES THEY TOOK WHEN THERE IS ONLY ONE MOVIE BEING FILMED IN LOS ANGELES AREA. And that's only because they didn't have time to prepare to leave the city, so they were stuck here.

DAVID "ZUMA DOGG" SALTSBURG SOLUTION: I am told by my team of community advisors that when Hollywood is offered tax breaks by places/loacations OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY, that is a violation of free trade agreements and is illegal to be offered by the country. I am also told a Form 300 can be filed to prevent Hollywood from being able to leave the country when they are doing so because of these illegally offered tax breaks. So with 50% of runaway productions going OUTSIDE the country...if the Form 300 can seal this leak, that's 50% more business in the U.S., at least...and hopefully we can keep as much of that 50% here in town. REGARDING runaway productions here in the U.S., something to consider that we may be seeing soon: Canada and the other States in the U.S. that are offering these tax breaks will be finding by the time they end up bending over backwards and end up cutting even further to compete with counter offers, it's not even worth it and the subsidies will be drying up. I PERSONALLY, am not the kind of person, or candidate, who likes to use, "out of state subsidies will dry up when they find out it isn't even worth it" as a strategy, but it IS something to be optimistic and hopeful about, and I feel it is enough of a reality that it should be considered on the backburner, while we address some of the reasons why it left in the first place. AND IF IT IS TRUE THAT HOLLYWOOD IS TAKING ILLEGAL TAX BREAKS BY OTHER COUNTRIES IN VIOLATION OF TRADE AGREEMENTS THEN THAT REALLY SUCKS!!!

AND WHILE I AM AT IT...SHAME ON THE HOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS AT THE TOP WHO ARE MAKING THE DECISION TO LEAVE THE CITY AND STATE JUST TO SAVE A FEW BUCKS!

They say they are leaving over tax breaks and subsidies and the bottom line is to save as much money as possible and it is cheaper to shoot elsewhere: BULLSHIT!!! YOU ARE GOING TO UP ROOT PEOPLE AND MAKE THEM LEAVE THEIR FAMILIES AND LET THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY OF HOLLYWOOD CAVE IN TO SAVE $3 MILLION ON A $50 MILLION DOLLAR PROJECT??? YOU HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO IN YOUR BOOK KEEPING BEFORE YOU CAN PLAY THE "BOTTOM LINE BUDGET" CARD. I really think these people are sociopaths who are in charge. Let's make everyone pack up and leave their families to save a couple million when you waste that much on luxury non-sense for the people on top. SHAMELESS CORPORATE EXECUTIVES SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR THE DECISIONS THEY ARE MAKING. ARE THEY THE TOTAL WHORES THE WHOLE WORLD THINKS THAT THEY ARE? I GUESS SO.

All we can do is fix the system ASAP because the city IS such a pain in the butt to deal with anyway with the cost of labor and difficulty in dealing with permits and overall expense to do business in the city so that when the other states get sick of a win-lose situation (the deal ain't worth it for the states offering the breaks); and if any leaders will step up and file the Form 300 to prevent illegal runaways (if that is a viable remedy) then pehaps Hollywood will finally be able to say, "There's no place like home."
