What L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's spokeshole Matt "Bozo The Clown" Szabo SHOULD be saying to try and spin (sucker) people on the four new DWP rate increases:
When I read the numb-skulled twitter tweets from L.A. Mayor Villaraigosa's spokesclown Matt Szabo, he must think DWP ratepayers are a bunch of naive kindergarten kids being told to be good boys and girls so Santa comes at Christmas. And AS IF people really give a shit about ensuring that L.A. stays on track to become the country's greenest (big) city won't get a 10% score in any focus group, in THIS economy, so why not say it THIS way:
"I know that many of you feel this is the WORST time in history to dramatically drive up, dare I say, 'skyrocket,' the rates of your DWP bill. And I understand this, as well. And I know that it is political suicide to go to you with four new rate increases, on top of all the previous increases, at a time that so many of you are barely staying IN your homes. THAT SHOULD TELL YOU HOW IMPORTANT IT IS THAT YOU SIMPLY KICK IN WITH MORE TO HELP BAIL US OUT OF THIS MESS. I know you don't really care about the greening of L.A. at this time, but this carbon green fee is simply the tact which will allow us to raise the bills so you contribute more to help get us out of this mess.
I know you are saying, 'Well geez, it's the mayor and city council and city hall that caused this problem through wasteful spending and fraud, waste and abuse; but this problem has been building for more than just four years, or the length of my term -- and it's too late now, anyway.
All I can say, is it is WAY worse that you realize, we are REALLY, REALLY screwed...the current administration was a big part of the problem, but this machine has been sailing out of control for more than a decade, or two; and now it's spun out of control beyond anything we can possibly imagine or fix -- without this massive DWP increase. So I'm begging you, to please just get us through this mess by paying all these additional fees, no matter what we are calling them or reason we are giving. Bottom line is, we are in BIG trouble, and if you don't pay higher rates on the DWP bill, the whole city is gonna fall apart. Bottom line, the cost of the privilege to live in the most beautiful geography in the county has just gone up. And if you don't pay the price, it will end up costing you much, much more in the long run and you'll wish you paid because you aren't going to like the city very much if we don't get this "bail us out" money."
