Does anyone have the real skinny on why CD 14 Councilmember Jose Huizar's Chief of Staff Joe Avila left? Here are what people are saying in the comment section of this blog:

Peter Hidalgo is Huizar's new Chief of Staff. (I hope Peter likes revolving doors.)
How many people have quit Huizar's office since the former LAUSD President took over the council district? (15 to be exact!) Hey Huizar, read some books on "leadership", will ya? How can you run a district when you can't even run your office? MAAAAAAAAAAAAAN, is there something fishy about all of these staffer defections.
CD 14 OFFICE UPDATE: Henry "Golden Gloves" Cassas is now Deputy Chief of Staff (Community Affairs) and George Gonzalez is Huizar's Press Deputy. (Write the names in pencil.)
Expect a reduction in constituent services in Huizar's district as the staff is down to 11 people with only one field deputy each for Boyle Heights, El Sereno and Eagle Rock and the rest at the Downtown City Hall office.
Hope Hidalgo takes direction well from Jessica Worthington-Mclean? She is Huziar's Planning & Economic Development Director, who also happened to sit on the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council at the same time -- AND -- was on the 912 NC Review Commission. But after ZD shook the trees on that one -- she stepped down from Eagle Rock NC. (A little conflict of interest.)
Jessica is close to Elliot Sekular who is the mastermind and mouthpiece behind the shady side of the Southwest Museum/Autry fight (Southwest Society) and he is the big shot behind the controversial Universal housing project. (Didn't she WORK for Universal before joining Huizar's office?)
And some say Jessica is the brains behind Huizar (since he doesn't have any).
So Elliot Sekular calls the shots into Jessica and she tells Huizar what to say. Meanwhile, it's all about helping the rich and famous in Mt. Washington while they do nothing for Boyle Heights.
Maybe the alleged investigation into Councilmember Jose Huizar's office has something to do with Avila's exit, too?
