MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA DELIVERS STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS (Douchetonio's own spin)
As the centerpiece of his third budget, Mayor Villaraigosa unveils his plan to consolidate gang reduction and youth services in his office under Sojourner Reverend Jeff Carr and fully fund 1,000 new police officers. [Great, you have the most corrupt mayor in U.S. history in control of all the money for gang intervention, with no accountability or transparency with the non-profit groups the mayor funnels money into.]
LOS ANGELES - Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa delivered his third State of the City address yesterday, detailing his comprehensive reorganization of how the City delivers gang reduction and youth services to provide clear lines of oversight, accountability and performance measures.
[But of course all the money will be siphoned off, and he'll be voted out of office before these measures are in place. And there are no measures providing clear lines of anything at the non-profit groups he hands the money over to. (It's like a magic trick. Take the money, and watch it disappear!]
The Mayor’s budget will also fully fund his commitment to put 1,000 new police officers on Los Angeles streets by 2010. [He better hurry up, he going to be voted out of office in '09! And I don't care about the mayor's "commitments," I care about his "actions."]
Mayor Villaraigosa’s comprehensive reorganization will consolidate the City's leading gang prevention and intervention programs into the Mayor’s Gang Reduction and Youth Development Office. [Good, give Antonio all the money and control so he can push CMs around and threaten to cut off their piece of the pie if they don't back up his extremist agenda based on propaganda and lies. DID SOMEONE REALLY JUST DECIDE TO LET ANTONIO VILLARAIGOSA HAVE ALL THE CONTROL AND POWER OF THIS GANG MONEY??? I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO THINK HE'S ON THE GANG'S SIDE, IF ANYTHING? Y'all better pack your bags and head for the hills, now!]
The plan will invest $1.5 million in prevention and intervention spending in each gang reduction zone and proposes the creation of a citywide Gang Crisis Response team – similar to the Gang Victim Services model in Orange County – which will provide a full range of services and support to victims and survivors of gang violence. [Hand 'em a basketball and a job at McDonalds, and that's a step in the right direction toward a "commitment". Of course, if your arm falls off, you can apply a band aid, and you can say, "We took serious measures toward healing the wound." (Meanwhile, you are bleeding to death, from the wound.)
