Zuma Dogg and Doug McIntyre (KABC) Rock Villaraigosa's 3-11 Switchboard Over Zine/Smith Motion

ZD and McIntyre ROCK City Hall switchboard!

Zuma Dogg called 3-1-1 on Friday evening (after hours) to be connected to a CM's voice mail. [Richard Alarcon's...who by the way doesn't HAVE voice mail. Didn't have it when he first took office and still doesn't have voice mail. The operator immediately said, "That's not very good if a constituent needs service." ZD said, "I'm sure the campaign contributors have a direct line.]

After the switchboard operator fumbled for a moment she said, "I'm sorry, it's been
a hectic day here." I say, "Really?" She adds, "Yeah...People have been calling all day about something here at City Hall. The shift gets here at 7am, and when I got here at 8:30 am, there was a full switchboard, with 25 calls in the cue. That's highly unusual for that hour."

I ask her, "What happened." She said it was in response to a motion by Councilmember Zine everyone is calling about.

She had no idea she was talking to ZD who had just announced the number on KABC. (With a repeat announcement on City TV 35 during public comment.)

I can't think of anything cooler than having a caller make an announcement on a radio talk show, like that...and having it rock city hall to the point where the switchboard operators are complaining openly to the general public at 6pm.

So, I told her that (ZD) made an announcement on KABC. And she said, "Oh, I read
your blog." And even told me about another blog that mentioned my name that I was completely unaware of! (What a complete and total victory across the board.)

AND DOUG MCINTYRE: Thanks for letting me get my message out to the public through your show. I know I made you a little nervous early on, but I know you like "politician sounding" ZD, better than "Jim Carey-kinda ZD". And ZD always gives the people what they want, y'all...so I didn't say, "y'all", y'all! Thanks Doug!

AND OF COURSE THANKS TO KEVIN JAMES OF 870 KRLA, TOO...for letting Matt Dowd and Zuma Dogg on his airwaves, too! (Kevin stripped away all the "ZD y'all factor" a long time ago! Way to train the dogg, y'all!)
