I have been told by City Hall staffers that the only people in the City and County who are not quivering over all this Special Order 40 reform (Jamiel's Law, Council's reform motion) is the Police Union (and CMs Zine/Smith who created and seconded the motion).
Well Big ZD feels he has always had a good sense of perceptions in the marketplace, which served me well in the radio industry and now during my time following City Hall issues and City Hall politics.
And however much the city and county officials (Councilmembers, Mayor Villaraigosa, LAPD honchos, all other elected and appointed officials) want to ignore the issue and hope it dies down and goes away; after this past week of radio calls by Jamiel Shaw, Sr and now L.A. County District Attorney Steve Cooley on all the talk radio stations...
IT'S OVER! Councilmember Herb Wesson (Shaw's Councilmember) and the rest of Council, the mayor's office and everyone else is going to have to start playing REAL politicians and start talking about the kind of dialouge, scrutiny and call for reform when it comes to the City's policy on "illegal aliens" (as Cooley calls them) committing these terrorist acts in the community.
ZUMA DOGG IS TALKING POLITICAL STRATEGY NOW, Y'ALL...It ain't about which way YOU want it to go at this point. Now that Steve Cooley has commented on both KFI and KABC that he feels reform is needed (and that Special Order 40, as currently written contains all the language needed to start enforcing the will of the people. When top brass let's police officers know that they are allowed to do this job, without losing their jobs, the spirit of S.O. 40 will remain and the will of the people will be enacted.
AND AS OF WEDNESDAY MAY 7, 2008 -- It's unfortunate for the politicians who wanted to keep this swept under the rug, behind closed doors...AT THIS POINT...ANYTHING SHORT OF JUMPING IN FRONT WITH TALK THAT ECHOS STEVE COOLEY IS GONNA REFLECT VERY POORLY ON YO AZZES, Y'ALL...AND BIG ZD WILL BE MAKING SURE TO LET EVERYONE KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS!
LA City Councilmembers are the Bad News Bears of their own PR...they blow it everytime and hand it to ZD (hence all the hilarious YouTube moments)...and they are about to do it again! But this one will have national attention, not just ZumaTimes.com.
