HERE ARE THREE ITEMS FROM WEDNESDAY'S AGENDA THAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION:
Janice Hahn, putting the important issues on the front burner, along with her gang intervention pal CM Tony Cardenas are teaming up, once again, to focus on what matters: Roosters! Please limit it to one per househould!
ITEM NO. (36) - Motion Required
07-3492 CONSIDERATION OF MOTION (HAHN - CARDENAS) relative to restricting the ownership of roosters to one per property within the city of Los Angeles.
[And Zuma Dogg would like to add, only one hamster, two gerbils and three goldfish!]
Click here to see if you qualify for an "exception." (I hope you do, mi amigos!)
Hey, there's a $700 million budget deficit in your city, and your district is hit hardest. What should you do? Establish a "Public Benefits Trust Fund" then find all kinds of reasons and methods to transfer as much money into this fund, from everywhere you can!
ITEM NO. (37) - Motion Required
08-1084 CD 14 CONSIDERATION OF MOTION (HUIZAR - CARDENAS) relative to establishment of a special fund to be known as the “Council District 14 Public Benefits Trust Fund.” Recommendation for Council action: REQUEST the City Attorney to prepare and present an ordinance to create a special trust fund to be known as the “Council District 14 Public Benefits Trust Fund,” for the receipt, retention and disbursement of gifts, contributions, bequests and City fund appropriations for the support of police and community activities within Council District 14.
Wonder how the transparency and accountability is on a newly established "slush fund" like this.
HEY HUIZAR...MY PHONE BETTER NOT START RINGING OVER THIS...OR THE PEOPLE ARE GONNA GET A REAL EARFUL ON CITY TV 35!
ITEM NO. (38) - Motion Required
08-0002-S30 CONTINUED CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION (HUIZAR - CARDENAS) relative to the City's position on AB 2077 (Fuentes), English Learner Assessment Act. Recommendation for Council action, SUBJECT TO THE CONCURRENCE OF THE MAYOR: RESOLVE to include in the City's 2007-08 State Legislative Program SUPPORT for AB 2077 (Fuentes), English Learner Assessment Act, which would ensure testing of English Learners before the start of the next school year and would require the release of sample questions for enhanced instruction.
I don't know? Are you sure it is a good idea to have students learn English in the U.S.? That may appear as though you are trying to erase people's culture and heritage.
