Judge Halts Echo Park Elementary School Construction Due To Shadiness of Environmental Review

This is a battle that I have been deeply involved with for the last four years.

Christine Peters, Echo Park Historical Society & Citizen's Committee to Save Elysian Park, along with a long list of community activists helped us prevail, and the community of Echo Park is extremely grateful for their support and determination.

I have told Christine this many times - we did this for all the other communities out there that have been rough ridden by local politicians, developers, and yes, LAUSD. If we need to, we must take these battles to court so that the wrong doing can be stopped, and illuminated for everyone to see.

Judge halts construction of Echo Park school

L.A. Unified submitted a flawed environmental impact report, ruling says. District must now consider other sides and gather community opinion.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge on Friday halted construction of an Echo Park elementary school, saying that the Los Angeles Unified School District acted in bad faith by putting together a shoddy environmental review.

Judge John A. Torribio's decision to nullify the district's review is a major setback.
