Here is the perfect reason why Zuma Dogg as mayor, will be implementing Deming's 14 points ("methods for management of quality and productivity) on day one to address most people's #1 (or #2) issue according to most research polls: TRAFFIC CONGESTION.
Today, during the Los Angeles City Council meeting, item 22 was about "short-term strategies for reducing traffic congestion in the City of Los Angeles."
And although Zuma Dogg, candidate for mayor, noted a few strategies toward this goal, ONE PROBLEM THAT IS CAUSING NOT ONLY MORE TRAFFIC CONGESTION, BUT IS A HUGE PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE, IS THE FACT THAT THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES WENT AND INSTALLED ALL THESE LEFT HAND TURN SIGNAL "AUTO-SENSORS" -- AND SINCE THE CITY HAS FAILED TO IMPLEMENT DEMING'S 14 POINTS...THE "AUTO-SENSORS" ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY, AND TRAFFIC IS BECOMING WORSE, NOT BETTER, AND PEDESTRIANS AND MOTORISTS ARE AT RISK.
Here's what happened. As a substitute for innovative leadership strategies to truly reduce traffic, as Zuma Dogg will be addressing in the Los Angeles Times, next week, the city installed left-hand turn signal "auto-sensors" underneath the roads.
Only problem, again, no leadership and no Deming's 14 points. In other words, the idea sounded good in the boardroom during a presentation ("Hey, auto sensors will help improve the process and improve the traffic flow.")
But common sense was not applied. Here is what is happening at these most travelled intersections all across the city.
* When the left turn signal changes to green, the auto-sensors are feeling for car motion across the sensors.
* However, we all know (common sense reality) that cars continue against the red light in the other direction (one, two, sometimes three cars) as YOU the driver with the green arrow -- are waiting to make your legal left turn on the green arrow.
* Since the sensor is "feeling" for motion, when you don't floor it right away, the sensor says, "No cars here!" ("No leadership or common sense here.") So the green arrow turns back to red, leaving about enough time for ONE car to make a left turn, before the second car in the turn lane is already having to go through a red light, already.
* THIS IS A HUGE PEDESTRIAN RISK, BECAUSE UNLESS YOU ARE RUNNING AN OLYMPIC TIME TRIAL, YOU CANNOT MAKE IT ACROSS TO THE OTHER SIDE IN THE AMOUNT OF TIME BEING ALLOTTED.
All of this adds up to why the city needs to implement Deming's 14 points. Because here you have a situation where the city has just made traffic congestion, WORSE, not better and it is a safety hazard when all these cars are flying through red arrows, cause it only allowed for ONE car to make it through.
AND NOW, what if the city has to tear up all the streets to move the sensors. Hopefully, they will be able to simply change the timing. But even that would cost tons and take a lot of time. And it probably can't be fixed that easily by such incompetent non-Deming 14 point embracing dummies.
