AND NOW YOU HAVE TIGHTENED THE KNOT -- WHILE CREATING A NEW LAWSUIT FOR A U.S. WAR VETERAN, these Barney Fyfe cops had to give a ticket to for something ZD is gonna NAIL the City with. (ZERO room for ERROR, these days, when it comes to tickets on the boardwalk...only takes ONE person to shout-out ZD from their space to tell their story -- that ends up with all of this and a NEW lawsuit.)
GET READY FOR THE CONVERSATIONS YOU WILL BE HAVING OVER THIS, LAPD! You get no respect from me, because the cops on Venice Beach deserve no respect from anyone.
AND FOR THOSE WONDERING WHAT THE TICKET WAS WRITTEN FOR:
The war veteran was displaying folded pieces of paper that people make into those little birds, or ducks, or whatever design you fold paper into. So, LAPD walks up and write him a ticket because he did not have a sign saying, "Donations Accepted" displayed.
When it was asked, "where do you get the sign." LAPD said, "You have to go to the office to get one." The police could have simply given him that warning, and let him get a sign (or make his own sign). BUT, they simply walked up and wrote him a ticket, with no warning. (Meanwhile, THIS is what your police dollars are going toward?)
SINCE THE CITY LOST A FEDERAL LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM ON THEIR VENICE BEACH RULES, AND HAD AN INJUNCTION PLACED ON THEIR PERMIT SYSTEM -- you are not required to go to any office, for any reason. However, if you feel the law requires you to display a sign -- THE CITY MUST POST A SIGN THAT SAYS YOU MUST HAVE A SIGN SAYING, "DONATIONS ACCEPTED." (Or perhaps just signs posted along the boardwalk, as they do with other signs, saying, "Donations accepted, by not required.")
They have signs posted saying ALL KINDS of things. Don't sell drugs, no smoking zone...they have all kinds of rules posted all over. BUT NO RULE SAYING YOU MUST POST A "DONATIONS ACCEPTED" SIGN. UNTIL THEN, YOU BETTER ISSUE A WARNING, BEFORE A TICKET...AND THAT IS WHAT THE FEDERAL JUDGE CAN DECIDE!
AS A MATTER OF FACT...NO WHERE ARE THE CURRENT RULES POSTED, ANYWHERE!!! HOW THE HELL IS ANYONE SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO DO IT? Think about it...an injunction was placed on much of the rules, but not all of them. The city can still enforce certain things. But no where are the current set of rules posted. Is someone supposed to look at the old rules and try to figure out what is still allowed, and what is no longer allowed -- by trying to interpret the judge's ruling? If so, please post the judge's ruling, somewhere!
SO I THINK LAPD BETTER SQUASH THAT SHIT, RIGHT ABOUT NOW...AND TAKE THEY ASSES OFF THE BEACH FOR THE PURPOSES OF WRITING THE KINDS OF TICKETS THAT OPENS UP ANOTHER FEDERAL ZUMA DOGG LAWSUIT....AND GO CHASE SOME REAL CRIMINALS...OR ARE YOU PACIFIC DIVISION COPS WHO ARE WALKING THE BEACH JUST A BUNCH OF LAZY, WEAK, LOSERS WHO CAN ONLY STAND UP AGAINST THIS TYPE OF THING? (Sure beats having to enforce REAL crime and REAL criminals.)
