Just call him Martin Luther Villargrossa, cause he has a dream: 100,000 new jobs in L.A. I guess the fact that we lost all these jobs was just a simple matter of not making this press conference announcement. ALRIGHT PEOPLE...THE MAYOR MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT...JOBS ARE A PRIORITY!!! STOP LEAVING, AND START FLOCKING!

[I set a goal to earn a billion dollars this year selling shirts at Venice Beach. Villaraigosa is the king of "goal setting". Now all we need is a mayor who knows how to achieve a single goal.]

With Los Angeles facing a tsunami of economic uncertainties [$600-$700 million deficit according to City Hall staftters to Zuma Times], Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced an "economic action plan" Wednesday designed to create 100,000 jobs over the next two years and develop programs to deal with the mortgage crisis, expand the middle class, attract more investment and increase tourism. [Common people...if he was able to do this in the first place, he would have. It's all pie-in-the-sky fantasy wishes, like a New Year's resolution, if you will]

"The economic experts, like Jack Kyser, tell us that they are not willing to concede we are in a recession, but it sure feels like one," Villaraigosa said in a speech at the Goodwill Industries work source center north of downtown Los Angeles.

"We recognize that cities are limited with what they can do. But you can't just throw your hands in the air and say we're limited. We have to deal with what we face." [Yeah, you have to deal with facing the effects of coffer skimming and mis-use/diversion of public funds, while you do everything except the job you were elected to.]

Villaraigosa said he will provide specifics on the programs in the coming weeks but he said a key part will be creating jobs, which has been a priority since he took office more than two years ago.[And while it has been a priority, the job market has headed south...as more people head north. Not that it's Antonio's fault for the bad job and housing market, but if you think this shady thug is going to do anything but make promises to help bolster his popularity...keep dreaming sucker!]

"When you think about creating jobs, it's a quality-of-life issue for communities," Villaraigosa said. "It is essential to the peace and tranquillity of a community." [Wow! It's easy to talk about creating quality of life, but when you jump through every loophole to funnel as much public money into your own non-profits and into your cronies pockets, you're not really helping.]

36,000 jobs created

Since taking office, Villaraigosa said his office has used various training programs with the business community, labor and schools to create more than 36,000 jobs in various sectors.

[How many were lost due to your illegal vending and mis-use of public funds and your fraud, waste and abuse. ANTONIO...you are humiliating yourself...Didn't you read, "The Emperor's New Clothes"? No one is thinking you are anything else other than a drain on City coffers and an illegal immigrant ass-kisser/apeaser. If you didn't hand out all the business contracts in town to your shady cronies, maybe some business would really have a chance in this town. See LAUSD/DWP/and every construction contract in town.]

The mayor said his goal is to add an additional 65,000 jobs in targeted industries by July 2010. [Better hurry, your single term is running out.]

All of the jobs pay at least $9.71 an hour with health benefits, or $10.96 an hour without benefits.

Targeted industries include health care, trucking, bus driving, construction and manufacturing - particularly in so-called "green" industries that are environmentally friendly.

On Tuesday, the mayor announced a jobs program through the Department of Water and Power that would also increase the use of solar energy.

`Hold ourselves accountable'

He said the city is insisting that all major projects that involve city funds have apprenticeship and job training programs for Los Angeles residents.

There are nine such projects currently under way, including the downtown l.a.live entertainment-sports-retail complex and the Grand Avenue redevelopment project.

"This is a way for us to hold ourselves accountable to the public," Villaraigosa said.

He said city agencies such as the DWP, Harbor and Airports also will be required to develop outreach programs for residents to offer training and opportunities for hiring and advancement.

Villaraigosa said the city hopes to hire 15,000 in its summer youth jobs program this year - up 5,000 from last year.

City Councilman Ed Reyes said the programs advanced by the mayor are the first to be coordinated among the city, the Los Angeles Unified School District, the Los Angeles Community College District and the county of Los Angeles.

As part of the effort, each jurisdiction is pooling funds for about $500million in job training programs.

[AH HA!!! Let's watch who Antonio hands this $500 million to. His cronies are probably setting up "training non-profits" as we speak. He hands them the money..there is no transparency or accountability required, the money is siphoned and diverted -- and you don't get half of what you paid for. Antonio is the master of this systematic process!]

Reyes said he was pleased the mayor is tackling job creation, as well as a mortgage crisis that has left thousands of residents facing possible foreclosure.

"We have been hearing what is going on in cities like Cleveland, where 10 percent of the homes are being foreclosed, leaving empty neighborhoods that become targets for criminals," Reyes said.

"It is an economic tsunami out there waiting to hit us."

[Way to generate investment in Los Angeles, Ed. You are the master of bad PR!]
