That's a wrap: Another week of Council meetings are wrapped up, and Zuma Dogg can say something NO COUNCILMEMBER CAN SAY: ZD has not missed a quorum in three months (since the day I returned from my hometown of Cleveland spent for family time on April 10th.) And I haven't slept anywhere but on the seat of my van since that day. And haven't exactly been keeping up on nutrition. I can barely move...but at least I seem to be able to do ONE thing...three times a week. And the one thing that keeps me going for one more day, is the feedback from people on the streets every day. Since I am on the streets from 6am-12mid..out and about the entire time...I can tell you, something BIG is going on when it comes to the City of Los Angeles residents, and their tuning in to see Zuma Dogg during the council meetings.
Council Appoves Another Tax Measure for the Ballot: Antother week of Council meetings are wrapped up with City Council voting 12-0 to place the gang and youth development "property tax" on the November ballot. Noticably absent was Councilmember Dennis Zine who was all over the media criticizing this item -- then ditches the vote, so he didn't have to vote "no" against the wishes of the other Councilmember posse members. (Talk about a real scary gang. It's the fifteen members of LA City Council. Look how they operate. Probably just a coincidence that the vote turned up on a day CM Zine had some good reason not to be there.)
TOM LEBONG DENIES SECRET GRIFFITH PARK MEETING: Zuma Dogg heard that Councilmember Tom LaBong blew a gasket over the Mayor Sam's blog story about a secret meeting Tom LaBong had regarding Griffith Park. Alegedly, LaBong was furious that this information somehow leaked out (about the meeting). Tom has been traveling the globe and has been in both France and Germany since this story broke, but now that he is back, I was able to finally aks him about it in person. Tom says there was no secret meeting and he did not have anything to do with those permit extentions over the historic preservation stuff. Tom tells ZD that a lot of people have a lot of different things to say about the issue of Griffith Park, and he is soliciting feedback from the community. And perhaps at one of these meetings, this issue was brought up by the person filing for the permits -- and people may have thought Tom was in cahoots with him on it. Tom is here to say, he cannot control what other people do. (Unlike in football, where the quarteback is in control of the playing field.)
WYVERNWOOD PLANNING MEETING: Didn't go too well. About 300 or more people filed into the community room in Boyle Heights for what they THOUGHT was going to be a "public hearing" where they could speak. Instead, there were fancy schematics of what the Wyvernwood gentrification project will look like (once they kick everyone out who was at the meeting). The only public hearing was in the form of "form" that people could fill out and stick in a box. Well let's just say the pueblos weren't having any of that. And the crowd quickly took over and broke out into shouts and chants and the people of the City running the meeting were surrounded by hundreds of people. There were plenty of police and gang intervention on hand. It wasn't really dangerous...just very unruly. Eventually, they had to turn on a mic and let some folks speak.
Bottom line: Villaraigosa has to make this Wyvernwood mixed use housing project happen to keep a campaign promise he made to Steve Fink and Fifteen Group when he ran for mayor the first time. No CM Jose Huizar is left holding the bag. And Huizar knows, the day this project is approved WITHOUT AN EIR...is the official day the "Recall Jose Huizar" Campaign starts.
CM Huizar tells Zuma Dogg that he has not made a decison on what to do at Wyvernwood.
ZUMA DOGG MASSIVE PREDICTION: CM Jose Huizar is preparing to jump off the Villaraigosa ship and claim his independence. ZD feels it could be over the Wyvernwood EIR. If Huizar says they NEED to do an EIR, when Villar and Fink DO NOT...that would be the sign! AND ZD says the "F-U Tony" is coming soon from Huizar.
