(Deep Announcer Voice): Monday, Monday, Moooooooooondaaaaaaaaay!!! THE COMMUNITY ACTIVIST EVENT OF THE SUMMER!!! That's where it's all going down, 12 noon at Lost Angeles City Hall. (200 N. Spring Street adjacent to Skid Row.) It'll be like Woodstock!!!
Here's the line-up:
Ron Kaye: Monday's event organizer. Everyone knows Ron from his twenty years at Daily News where even though he couldn't publish the best stuff...he knows what it is, and hopefully Monday, we will get a real earful of shadiness as he talks about the City.
Doug McIntyre: Host of Zuma Dogg's favorite morning drive talk show, "McIntyre In The Morning" on 790-KABC. I have been a BIG fan of Doug's radio show since the days (nights actually) that he hosted his overnight show. So I hope to be able to stop by to meet Doug in an environment where he can't have me removed from the building!
Jose Aguilar: If you live in East L.A., you have probably met Mr. Aguilar at a meeting or perhaps he has even shown up at your door to warn you of some shady "Eminent Domain/Gentrification" scheme the City is pulling on the neighborhood. What a great move on Ron Kaye's part to schedule Jose as a speaker. I told Ron Kaye that Jose Aguilar is Zuma Dogg's Alfred. (LIke in Batman.) We used to joke that he was the Zuma Dogg "Eastside Annex"...but it's more like Zuma Dogg is Jose's Westside Annex.
Steve Barr: Steve is ZD's pal in the school Charter business. Guys like Eli Broad and Bill Gates throw tens of millions of dollar at a time Steve's way. And even Bill Clinton chills with Steve on the Charter tip. If you hate LAUSD and want to take the school system out back and shoot it like a lame horse -- STEVE IS THE GUY WHO IS DOING THAT FOR YOU, AS HIS VILLARAIGOSA-BACKED HOMIES ON THE LAUSD SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS CONTINUE TO SHOOT LAUSD IN IT'S OWN FOOT AND FUNNEL MORE MONEY INTO CHARTERS. (Cause there's tons of money to be made building school, fixing schools, operating schools. And Wall Street sees the money to be made. Prisons and schools...that way that can profit off people from early school years through graduation (or incarceration). But Steve is a passionate guy who is really is trying to fix a broken system by taking matters (and money) into his own hands. (Antonio is trying to be a mini-Steve Barr with Villar's school cluster(f*ck) takeover that is in violation of the City Charter.)
Sandra Tsing Loh: A writer and performer, Ms. Loh appears regularly on Public Radio's Marketplace with "The Loh Down" and on KPCC with "The Loh Life." and has written several books, including "A Year in Van Nuys." (NOTE: Loh is not featured on Power 106 or Movin' 93, so ZD hasn't heard of her. But some of you upscale, fancy people may have)
Mayor Sam Readers: I hope some of the regular readers and comment posters of Mayor Sam's blog are able to attend.
Special Guests: I don't know if there will be any, but I'm sure there will be some other well known people stopping by that will be a pleasant surprise!
Zuma Dogg: I hope to be there, too, to mingle with everyone. But Monday is a long way away and it all depends on my expense coffers. I would say I will be there, for sure...but then if I can't make it...one lone wacko will show up and be all pissed because Zuma Dogg said he was gonna be there. But if I am not able to make it, hope some good video is recorded!
