Council To Beg MTA For New HALF-CENT Sales Tax for Transportation Projects on November Ballot

Los Angeles City Councilmembers have already added so many new fees and taxes lately, they have to start begging their homies to pull a few jack moves, theyselves. Like a new half-cent sales tax to pay for transportation projects like the Gold Line.

You may have heard that LA County missed out on $320 million in Federal money for projects like the Gold Line, because LA County officials wanted to wait and see the results of THIS:

HOW ABOUT A BIG "NO" NOW THAT YOU KNOW THEY TURNED DOWN $320 IN HOPES OF STICKING YOU WITH THE TAB. (They would have had to spend $80 million to get the $320 million. So they will just put this tax on the ballot and keep the mass transit projects on hold as a scare tactic.

ITEM NO. (13)
08-0002-S65 RULES AND GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE REPORT relative to the City's position on urging the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) to place a new half-cent sales tax for transportation projects on the November 2008 ballot. Recommendations for Council action, as initiated by Resolution (Rosendahl - Greuel - LaBonge - Hahn), SUBJECT TO THE CONCURRENCE OF THE MAYOR: 1. URGE the Metro Board of Directors to place a new half-cent sales tax for transportation projects on the November 2008 ballot; and AMEND the list of transportation projects that will be funded by the half-cent sales tax to include the Downtown Los Angeles Streetcar.
