[YOU! Common down to Venice Beach. It's awfully quiet, cause hardly anyone knows you are allowed to use amplifiers, mics and electronic instruments on Venice Boardwalk again, cause city forgot to tell you.]For the past five years, the City of Los Angeles has been ILLEGALLY violating the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution by BANNING the use of amplifiers along most of the Venice Beach Ocean Front Walk (Venice Beach Boardwalk).
On October 21, 2010, A FEDERAL JUDGE ruled in favor of Zuma Dogg, Matt Dowd, et al -- and AGREED this was an OUTRAGEOUS violation of U.S. law -- and placed an injunction on L.A. City Hall's ILLEGAL rules. NOW, ANYONE and EVERYONE may bring your amps, mics, podiums, speakers (and instruments if you are a music group) -- and play/perform -- or amplify your speeches on whatever topic you wish -- IN ANY SPACE ALONG THE BOARDWALK!!!
The city didn't put out a press release or bother to notify you. So this is proper notification. YOU ARE ALLOWED TO...ANYWHERE along the boardwalk (except in marked "access" spaces or in pagoda areas) between 9am and sunset. Sunset is when the disc of the sun disappears on the horizon.
DO NOT BE BAMBOOZLED! And if they tell you it's too loud (they tell EVERYONE THAT, automatically, no matter what -- and hope you trust their discretion), aks them, "by what standard of measure are you using, officers?" If they say, "their ears," -- IMMEDIATELY ask for their supervisor, cause you think they are in violation of U.S. Federal law in their request, because if they say, "We had a complaint," THAT DOES NOT JUSTIFY THE LOSS OF YOUR 1st AMENDMENT RIGHTS! EVERY JUDGE IN AMERICA KNOWS THAT! So tell them, "get the supervisors on duty and/or the sound level (decibel) meters -- and take a measurement -- or keep pounding pavement and catch some bad guys, cops."
