Zuma Dogg Takes Stage To Rally Masses At Bernard Parks For Supervisor Campaign Event -- Plus Perry, Rosendahl, Molina & Waters (Preface)

[Pictured: "Tons of Fun" Supervisor Candidate Bernard Parks]

What a truly triumphant day it was in the City of Los Angeles as a diverse coatlition of City, County and State elected officials joined Zuma Dogg on stage to endorse "Bernard Parks for Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, District 2!"

After showing up at City Hall for over two and a half years, and really turning up the heat over the past five months, with only one council meeting absense in five months; ZD wanted to try and channel some of the frenetic energy I have been putting out there; and focus it toward something out there, this election season.

And I found my cause in the most unlikely of places...Oh no, not Parks?!?!?

But Zuma Dogg is more confident, assured, passionate, pleased and fired-up over the decision to make quite a statement by deciding to push hard to help get a Councilmember ELECTED for higher office...when all these past two years, I was just chompin' at the bit to do everything humanly possible to PREVENT an LA City Councilmember from advancing into any thing else than the private sector.

ZD will be bringing attention to certain ballot measures and bonds on the ballot, this election...but the LA County Board of County Supervisors is an important as hell election, this November 4th, because the only time one of these positions turn over, is when the person retires. (Once your ass is in that seat, it's almost impossible for voters to pry your ass out. INCUMBENTS ALWAYS WIN!)

I was out of town during the first election which ended in this November run-off. But now that I am back in action, I wanted to get to the bottom of the Board of Supes race to see if I felt passionate, one way or the other between California State Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas and Bernard Parks.

And of course, my intial first take was that the mayor was probably behind Parks and I would probably like Thomas, better.

So right away, I find out that Villaraigosa didn't endorse Parks (and insiders told me Villar wants Ridely-Thomas to win.)

That means, Parks is still in the ballgame. Because if Antonio was not endorsing Parks, that was a good sign to me, and something was up, and I needed to roll up my sleeves and check it out.

Bottom line: Yeah, Parks is the grass-roots candidate and Ridely-Thomas had all that shady labor money behind him, and suddenly it all came together!

FORGET ABOUT PARKS FOR A MINUTE...IF RIDLEY-THOMAS GETS IN THERE...things would be going the "Villaraiogsa" way on the legislation (and spending) -- AND I SERIOUSLY DO THINK, YOU MAY AS WELL FLUSH THE COUNTY (AND REGION) DOWN THE TOILET IF MARK RIDLEY-THOMAS WERE TO BE IN THAT SEAT!

So then, I was thinking back on CM Parks, since my attendance of the meetings. And although as a body, I am no fan of ANY councilmember since they all vote on the stuff I am against (including Parks).

But Ridley-Thomas wouldn't have been any maverick, either. And 99% of the time, you just aren't going to be gettting too excited about the perfection level of ANY politician, jsut by the nature of the game and what it takes to get elected in the first place.

But this election isn't about reforming the democratic system...it's about THIS ELECTION before us, that will have a long-standing effect on the City, County, region and State. (And as goes California, will go the rest of the nation.) SO THIS IS BIGGER THAN A COUNCIL ELECTION!

So when looking to see if a candidate is worthy of endorsement, ZD looks to see if they have distinguished themselves in at least ONE (or two) ways. Because, unfortunately, that IS all it takes to stand out from the pack of elected officials in this city and county.

And I can maintain credibilty by saying that Bernard Parks HAS distinguished himself in a way that I look for. In his case, the prudent, responsible, fiscal conservative who is the Councilmember you can expect to hit his buzzer, to warn the ir-responsible and juvenile behaving Los Angles City Council how their actions may have a negative financial impact in the future. (Aka: They're setting themseleves up for lawsuits.)

Remember, "Oh no...not Parks!" (One of the most viewed YouTubes and many people's favorite.) Well today, I was thinking about how the reason that I said, "Oh no, not Parks" is actually the reason I like him for Board of County Supervisor. Here's how "Oh no, not Parks" came about:

Zuma Dogg and Matt Dowd were in Van Nuys waiting to beam our public comment back to City Hall. A loooooooong agenda item was JUST wrapping up, and ZD even took to the podium in Van Nuys to be ready when they cut over...but then, President Pro-Tem Wendy Greuel pipes in, "Oh, Councilmember Parks would like to speak."

WHAT!?!?! I thought we were outta there and on to the next thing. But here comes Parks, just when the the students thought they were done for the day to say, "Oh yeah, we didn't review yesterday's assignment, so before we go for the day, let's go over it with a fine tooth comb."

JUST WHEN I THOUGHT WE WERE DONE, "OH NO, NOT PARKS!" (Knowing we were in for a long, prudent, fiscally responsible discussion of the pitfalls.)

And when I have popped into the SCAG meetings for a spot inspection of Councilmember attendance, out of the 15, he is one of only three who attend regularly. And I can tell you, I was never sure if Parks was just an empty headed-dummy, or not...but this guy sits there with his face in these fifteen inch thick reports and reads, reads, read, reads this stuff. (I've always joked, he HAS to read every bit of information, because it's free so he can't pass it up!)

So Councilmember Parks is no Tom LaBong. He may bore you to tears with the explanation of what he has learned, but when you look at the two candidates running for Board of County Supervisors this November 4th, Zuma Dogg feels if there is ONE ISSUE he can take on and try and squeeze as much energy out of himself to do all the things to rally the masses...

IT'S TO MAKE SURE BERNARD PARKS HAS HIS ASS IN THAT SEAT, ALL LEANED BACK AND COMFORTABLE NEXT TO ZEV AND ANTONOVICH!!! (And then ZD will be showing up to make Parks as un-comfortable as possible. Cause there's nothing shadier and impossible to move through than the beuaratic-saturated Board of County Stupidvisors! And I hope ZD welcomes CM Parks to the club!

Low-Life Criminal, LA City Attorney Rocky Delgadilldo BEING INVESTIGATED BY THE F.B.I. !!! (LOL!)

[Caption: Rocky assures the crowd, "What me, worry?]

Wed. 8/20/08 UPDATE: LA Times is reporting the investigation is focusing on the consulting contracts Delagdilldo's wife was getting. Zuma Dogg has done TONS of screaming on TV 35 and radio about how money is wasted though these patronage contracts. Oh, I can't wait!

FBI THINKS DELGADILLDO IS A CRIMINAL, TOO: I TOLD yo azz, that low-life criminal Los Angeles Shitty Attorney Rocky Delgadilldo was gonna take a big pineapple up his wazoo for the way he is operating his racket.

LA City Controller Laura Chick was contacted and interviewed by Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) two weeks ago that they were investigating racketeering king (Delgadilldo), most likely over the worker's compensation program that Chick has been playing tough of war with the most-likely-to-be-indicted loser City Attorney.

The probe began after Delgadilldo was criticized for allegedly using city resources for personal benefit.

(Let's face it, the F.B.I. ain't wasting their time and money unless they already know the answer to what they are investigating. So it's a matter of if they can prove it on paper, which again...ZD says they WILL.

ELTON JOHN VOICE (Sung): So Goodbye Delga-dilldo! Cause the F.B.I.'s gonna howl. You can't keep covering crime up. The Feds will shut down your show!

Zuma Dogg can think of some other things the F.B.I. should be investigating like the City Attorney's subcontracting of their deadbeat dad and debt collections, and the City's towing subcontracts, among other rackets being run by the City Attorney's office.

AND OF COURSE THE SAN FRANSISCO CHRONICLE BROKE THE STORY AND LA TIMES PICKED IT UP ONLY AFTER THEY BROKE IT:

Criminal probe begun of L.A. city attorney
Lance Williams, San Francisco Chronicle, 08/19/08
San Francisco FBI agents have begun a criminal investigation of Los Angeles City Attorney Rockard "Rocky" Delgadillo, a one-time rising star of California politics whose career stalled after a series of admitted ethical lapses. [Oh I LOVE the SF Chronicle, what a description!]

City controller questioned by FBI about city attorney
RAQUEL MARIA DILLON, Associated Press, 08/19/08
(08-19) 17:11 PDT Los Angeles, CA (AP) -- City Controller Laura Chick said Tuesday she had been questioned by the FBI and the U.S. attorney's office about her audit of the workers compensation unit supervised by City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo. Chick...
Chick spoke to U.S. agents in Delgadillo probe
L.A. city controller says she was interviewed about her effort to conduct an audit of the city attorney's office. Delgadillo's spokesman sees a 'political agenda' behind allegations against his boss. [Yeah, there is a 'political agenda' to crack down on City Attorney racketeering.]

Los Angeles City Controller Laura Chick today said she has been interviewed by the FBI and federal prosecutors regarding an investigation of City Atty. Rocky Delgadillo.

Any allegation of wrongdoing is nothing more than garbage being shoveled by the city's attorney's political opponents hiding behind the cloak of anonymity," Velasquez said. "This is a classic political smear. It's one hell of a coincidence that this is coming out now, when press accounts say he is considering a run for attorney general."

[OMG!!! Delgadildo thinks he has a chance of getting elected for Attorney General? How do you serve that position from a Federal Prison? Is Mike Hernadez gonna bail him out? Meanwhile, the fact that Rocky's spokesperson would even mention a run for ANY elected office besides Cub Scout Master is going to make my hernia stitches bust from laughing so loud. (No, I don't really have a hernia...but I might get one from laughing so hard at the thought of Rocky thinking he can run for anything but from the law. He's certainly been operating outside of it.

HE ROCKY, HOW'S YOUR PAL MARIA FROM HOUSING? Maybe I should call the FBI about that one. Everyone loves to pile on an embarrassing laughing-stock loser!

Community Not Happy That Ron Kaye Left Daily News: People Are Concerned Cause LA Times Sucks Villaraigosa's...

Alright, alright...I'll post more about it! Beloved Editor Ron Kaye resigned from Daily News. Forced out by the the publisher is more like it. New editor to be announced Monday.

Now, ZD doesn't really like to cover the coverage. In other words, I cover the issues I cover as brought to me from the community, or that I come across elsewhere that I feel fits the focus of my blogging. (All issues.) And covering other newspapers coverage just doesn't do it for me. (After all, let's face it, ZD covers a lot of the stuff they don't/should be covering.) Cause let's face it, Zuma Times gets the sloppy fourths. (Stories people take to LA Times, LA Weekly and LA Daily News first. And when they don't cover it, they call Zuma Dogg. THEN, they sometimes end up covering it after ZD warms it up.)

But there DOES seem to be a concern in the community that the departure of Ron Kaye at Daily News leaves a huge voice in the print medium and is about to let some of the fraud, waste and abuse off the hook in the City.

Joseph Mailander launched a new blog this weekend called Street-Hassle (Street-Hassle.blogspot.com) and he was kinda surprised Mayor Sam hasn't posted a thread about it. And even though ZD posted a thread with Ron's resignation memo, along with a memo from the publisher regarding Ron's departure...that's not the same as actually commenting on the impact it will have in the City's political landscape and what it will mean to the Valley and the community.

Here's something from ZD's email from a trusted blogging mentor: "The story you should be covering is about Ron Kaye, and what that means for an informed public in L.A. This scares me more than anything because L.A. Times doesn't do their job."

So alright, alright...between Joe and this person, let ZD go on the record to say (especially on my 2-year anniversary of my first trip to City Hall for public comment)...maaaaaaaaaan, I can't tell you how many times I spent all day and night on the phone and watching the news and reading the blogs figuring out what the most important thing in the City to talk about at my next public comment.

And I put it all together in my head, and take notes on the bus, on my way to City Hall. Only to hop off the bus, see that gosh-darned "Daily News" vending machine on the corner of Spring Street in front of City Hall, by the bus stop. And as I pass by, so many times, the headline would catch my eye and give me whiplash, as I have to spring for the fifty cents to grab the issue...and my entire 24 hours of previous preparation, all goes out the window to present to the people of Los Angeles (on TV 35) what the Daily News just broke.

So yeah, some of my fondest memories of the past two years are the times I hopped off the bus, with my public comment running through my head...only to have it go out the window with the sheer excitement of a Daily News headline. Oh Matt Dowd can share in some of these headlines. (Especially the ones about Garcetti, and the one or two that mentioned Dowd/Dogg.)

And the point is...I can't think of one single situation where it was an L.A. Times headlines that caused any of this.

Ron Kaye "Resignation Memo" To Daily News Staff

"Resignation" memo from Daily News editor Ron Kaye and reply from publisher Doug "E. Fresh" Hanes

Everyone:

All good things in life come to an end sooner or later, even my love affair with the Daily News.

What will always be with me is my love and respect for all of you. You've shown in the last two plus years just how talented and capable you are working together -- so capable you've made me obsolete. Under the circumstances, I'll always be grateful for that. Doug Hanes will be announcing my successor on Monday and I hope you will give that person the same effort and support you've given me. You have made this into a real newspaper with a soul and passion and creativity and shown your commitment to discover how this newspaper, any newspaper, can survive in the digital age. I know it can be done and I wish you all the best in whatever you, wherever the road leads you.

Thanks for everything, these have been the happiest and most fulfilling years of my life. Keep the faith, love always.

Ron

Here's the response from Daily News publisher Doug "Doug E. Fresh" Hanes

First of all, let me express my thanks and gratitude to Ron Kaye for the 23 years of service to the Daily News. Ron has made numerous contributions to this newspaper as well as to the many communities we serve. Ron inspired achievement in a challenging way in a news media environment. We will miss you Ron and wish you all the best for you and your family.

Please be advised that on Monday, April 7th at 10:00 a.m. I would like to invite each one of you to attend a short meeting in the newsroom to announce Ron's successor, who will be in attendance. Following that meeting, there will be a press release issued.

I look forward to working with all of you as we move the Daily News forward in a positive growth direction that will increase our readership, advertising and market share. These are difficult but exciting times as well. I'm very optimistic that with your help we will continue to grow our core, online and niche products. Our biggest challenge is how to accelerate our way into developing programs that will be rich in local content that inspires readership leading to aggregating new audiences. Big challenge but we will be successful as a team.

Have a good weekend.

Best Regards,
Doug Hanes

Wow! Ron resigns on Friday and a replacement is named on Monday! I guess you just go outside and pick another editor of the Editor Tree. Anyway, seems like a lot of this is over the internet's impact on un-innovative publishers who failed to embrace it, and don't do it the right way, when they do decide to embrace it...they suck wind.

But looks like Ron isn't blaming himself for the lack of innovation, but the publisher who is blaming Ron:

zuma dogg: my own view is far less charitable to newspaper corporations and
their failure to respond to television 50 years ago let alone the internet
15 years ago, cheers ron
- Ron Kay (1/30/08 in response to ZD saying newspapers are non-innovative and that's why they are in trouble.)

Now...more than ever...

This week marks the historic anniversary of Zuma Dogg's first appearance at City Hall for public comment over Venice Beach Ordinance 42.15. Thanks to Matt Dowd for dragging me there. (Well, not exactly "thanks", but "acknowledgment".) And to add to the triumphantness, those spineless cowards (Los Angeles City Council) will be repealing the ordinance and replacing it with the changes we f*ckin' told them to make. HA, those dumb-asses are going to have to vote on Wednesday declaring that we kicked their asses off Venice Beach. Sorry Douchetonio Viagraosa. Go screw a news reporter who is covering you -- or an appointed commissioner, Mr. Family Values Mayor. And next time you see me, don't extend your hand for me to shake...don't put your arm around me when you cameras are rolling...just bend down and kiss my ass. (Oh wait, you don't have to bend down...just kiss it!)
