David vs Goliath: Zuma Dogg vs the OTHER Candidates and THE MEDIA

My name is David (Saltsburg) and my candidacy sure as hell is like "David and Goliath" vs the rest of the sources and forces.

KABC's Doug McIntyre has already had on eight of the ten candidates in the LA City Council CD 2 election...and the only other candidate who has not been heard from is booked already.

DOUG keeps TELLING me I am going to be on the show and he is going to have someone call me.

He told me that in person a couple weeks ago at a party we were attending together, and he emailed me that he will book me and I keep hearing that someone from the station is going to call me to book me on the show.

DOUG, I've called your show HOW many times over the past three years (including when you were on overnight).

YOU'VE ALREADY HAD EIGHT OTHER CANDIDATES AND THE OTHER ONE IS BOOKED.

THE ELECTION IS COMING UP.

IS IT POSSIBLE I CAN GET BOOKED ON YOUR SHOW BEFORE THE ELECTION IS HELD, SINCE YOU HAVE ALREADY HAD EVERYONE ELSE (except for the 9th candidate who is also booked).

AND FOR SOME REASON, ALTHOUGH I AM A LONG TIME LISTENER AND ALWAYS FIRST TO ASK TO COME ON YOUR SHOW...

I'M STILL WAITING JUST TO HAVE A TIME SCHEDULED???

How about Wednesday, Sept 23rd? (Of course the election is the 22nd.)

DOUG, it's 213-785-7272. If you need me to audition, you can listen to me on Kevin James 870 KRLA this evening (Thursday) at 9pm.

NOTE: Tamar Galatzan told Kevin James during his extensive coverage of the election that of all the other candidates, Zuma Dogg is who she would choose for "Chief of Staff."

That ought to end a lot of speculation regarding the Dogg. Tamar is willing to mention me as her Chief of Staff, among all the other candidates, so I guess she feels I'm the one she would trust with her reputation, district and people. So that's quite a nice thing.

NOTE: Yesterday (9/9/09) this blog (Zuma's LA DAILY BLOG) just had a RECORD amount of page views since the inception of the blog. Thanks for reading. Interesting that it is just as we approach the homestretch of the CD2 City Council election.

And finally, I'm going to pull up my podcast from when I was on Doug's show a year and a half ago when I predicted and warned of this exact economic crisis and all the loss of jobs and services we will be facing. Doug said, "Zuma Dogg speaks the truth!" (And now Parks is a hero for talking about it after the fact, and a great job he is doing, and you KNOW I mean that...but you COULD have a councilmember in City Hall who not only figured it out on his own in enough time to prepare for it, but warned city council at the meetings and even was calling radio stations as a mere concerned citizen trying to warn people so they could take action.

So in celebration of the other 9 candidates being on Doug McIntyre's KABC radio show, while I listen to them and have Doug keep telling me, "We'll get back to ya, kid," here's a blast from the past ZD from Doug's show. CLICK HERE for ZUMA DOGG on McIntyre's KABC show from May 2008. Here's Zuma Dogg on L.A. Economy at City Council in April 2008.

David

10:00AM UPDATE: David Saltsburg (Zuma Dogg) will be appearing LIVE, in studio, with Doug McIntyre on 790 KABC, tomorrow morning (Friday) at 9am. You can listen to this seminal, pivital, Los Angeles political and pop culture moment that all will remember EXACTLY where they were when they heard "ZD on McIntyre for the City Council election" LIVE on KABC.

ZUMA DOGG CD2 SIGNATURE GATHERING UPDATE: Aw yeah! Looks pretty good. Have OVER 500...into the 600's when I left this evening, while I still had two people gathering for me. So, looks like I'll be turing in over 800...maybe 900 depending on who shows up tomorrow to help ZD. Botttom line: I'm always nervous about this stuff, but all the signatures look to be from inside the CD2 district, which is the toughest part, cause the district is gerrymandered against 3 other districts. So at this point, it feels pretty good. I even have all of Monday, right up until 5pm, and you don't have to show up until 5pm to hand them in at the clerks office. (You don't even have to show up at 4:55pm. YOU HAVE RIGHT UNTIL 5pm.) Now of course ZD won't cut it THAT close, but if I have less than 800 at the end of the evening on Sunday...I WILL PUT EVERYONE OUT ON MONDAY MORNING, UNTIL 2pm...3pm...probably don't have the cajones to head to the Clerks Office much past 3pm. So I'll probably do "clean up" signatures Monday until 2pm. Thanks to everyone who helped...and the BAD NEWS IS...I have to pay for signatures that are gathered, and will still be gathered. So please make a donation to help pay for some of these, cause it's possible I won't even be able to turn them in unless some people step up and help pay for them between now and Monday. (But that's better than having to donate money for ZD to try and get them, himself. So if you think it is worth it to pay for "already gathered" signatures, since it looks like I am going to make it...hit the PayPal button on this blog, or call me to drop off a donation. (It doesn't count as a campaign contribution and does not have to be disclosed to Ethics, so you can remain anonymous.

"ANTI-VILLARAIGOSA CANDIDATE" SLOGAN WORKS MAGIC FOR ZUMA DOGG: Oh wow...three years ago when I started as an activist and people looked at Zuma Dogg like he really was crazy when he would tell people how shady and what a loser of a Mayor, Anotnio Villaraigosa is. He was still new in office and although harcore inside activists knew...word hadn't spread to the masses yet, in a way that triggers "boooooooooooos" with even a stadium of Lakers fans. So here's an interesting tale from the road of Zuma Dogg signature gathering over these past few days...

When I say, "Can you sign my petition for city council?", many times people will just shrug and keep walking. When I started tagging it with, "Villaragiosa is running three candidates in the area and I'm the grass roots guy," THEY WOULD LITERALLY STOP IN THEIR TRACKS AND PULL A U-TURN AND BOOGIE BACK OVER TO UNCLE MC ZUMA DOGG!!!

I AM TELLING YOU...THEY WANT TO STRING THIS GUY UP BY HIS MICKEY MOUSE EARS. Not that it matters, cause he isn't running for office...but WORD TO YA MUTHA on the "anti-Villaraigosa" strategy being the magic-miracle that is converting casual non-give-a-shitters, into "Where do I signers." SERIOUSLY...it's hilarious and a SUPER-DUPER eye opener. I am not underestimating the value of, "Can you sign my petition for city council...VILLARAIOGSA IS RUNNING THREE CANDIDATES AND I'M THE GRASS ROOTS GUY. (Do not deviate from script!)

SHADY AS HELL SEIU BACKS BURBANK'S PAUL KRAKORIAN FOR CD2: If you want to know who NOT to vote for, you can usually just look at who SEIU is endorsing, then cross THAT one off the list. In this case it's Paul Krackrian, of Burbank, who is running for CD2 City Council, strangely, even though he is currently Burbank Assemblymember??? Anyway, SEIU endorses him...or WILL BE ENDORSING HIM (not sure if they announced it yet). So I guess Paul will be finishing about fourth.

REMEMBER...hit the PayPal or call to meet me to give me some cash to pay for the signatures that have already been gathered and will be gathered on Sunday and Monday to get me into the 800-900 range needed to comfortably get the 500 verified signatures due on Monday.

NOTE: New Zuma Dogg Blog Posts Will Appear at ZumaTimes.com

March marks the three year anniversary of Zuma Dogg at City Hall and the one year anniversary of this LA Daily Blog.

With the election now behind us, and Villaraigosa re-elected, I want to move my blogging to ZumaTimes.com, and let this blog stand as an archive of a golden era in my life, where I dedicated as much of myself as possible to documenting all the ways Villaraiogosa and L.A. City Council are sticking it to you through fraud, waste and abuse.

The focus of this blog has been very narrow by design and I don't want to change that. But I want to expand and blog about things from a more personal nature. This blog was for the community to blog their issues as brought to me during the meetings, phone and emails.

Now, I want to get back to a little more balance in my blogging, because I have a lot more to say and offer to the community than just the problems at City Hall. So now is a good time to encorporate the past 20 years of my life into my blogging, instead of just three.

This LA Daily Blog will be my personal archive for this era in which I will refer back to for upcoming posts...and I now think of this blog as my KISS "ALIVE" LP.

So the new album (KISS "ALIVE II") will be blogged at http://ZumaTimes.com/.

LA City News Scan (8.23.08/9AM Update)

Thanks to the new editors of Daily News for their FRONT PAGE coverage of "Bigfoot Believers," the opening of an over-budget swimming pool, and some sob story about some Hollywood memorabilia up for auction. REAL IMPORTANT STUFF!!! So we are dealing with a newspaper that is doing front page coverage for "Bigfoot Believers."

LA TIMES...EVEN WORSE, at least the story about a swimming pool was a swimming pool in the City and in the United States, and not some international swimming pool. But if you want to read about a "stain" regarding children in India; "tree huggers" in Humbolt county; Chelsea Handler; and some sports celebrity who is on a real career roll...CHECK THE FRONT PAGE OF THE SUNDAY LA TIMES! And their internet staff worked at lightening speed, this morning, to post (yesterday's news) on LAzyTimes.com that "
Joe Biden is Obama's running mate" at 4:30 AM PDT, August 23, 2008.

So for all intent and purposes, LA Times readers (newspaper OR [what is supposed to be more timely] internet -- didn't have confirmation until they woke up this morning, while Zuma Dogg confirmed it on his blog at 9:29 PM the day before...LMFAO!

For the rest of us...it's up to the blogs. And if you listened to the newscasts on any local AM radio station, yesterday, there wasn't a single story that I heard, that wasn't posted on the LA City News Blog already.

Basically, the radio stations have their own news wires and services and whatever tools of the trade (like staff); but the people (la gente) now have LA City News which really filters out all the non-essential, warm and fuzzy, jibber-jabber that the newspapers and internet sites are filled with; and you get the stuff local LA City NC members, activists and interested residents can go as a great starting point.

Here are some of the stories featured this Saturday morning for the 9am hour. And if you wanna help keep this service rolling, it would help to paypal the hard working staff who is updating the blog round the clock!
