KNBC 4 NEWS: Janice, one of the things that we have been asked all along, and we saw this happening was that there WAS pressure, and I am going to ask you both, how MUCH pressure was there for you to stay out of this race for City Attorney knowing that one of your colleagues who sits right across from you in the horse shoe at city hall was running for City Attorney?
Janice looks at CM Dennis Zine who is standing there and points to him and says, "Go to him first."
So Dennis says, "I never had any pressure..." And goes into reasons he supported Nuch over Weiss.
When Janice was asked, she at first rambled and filibustered on how her brother was City Attorney for 16 years so I think I know a 'little bit' about what it takes to be a good city attorney...blah, blah, blah..."
But like Zuma Dogg and Leonard Shapiro, the KNBC 4 News reporter was confused with the answer, and tripped Janice up and got her to cave, by "pressuring" her, by repeating the question. SHE CAVED!
Los Angeles City Councilmember Janice Hahn said, "Sure, I mean we always are pressured, I had pressure from inside City Hall to stay out of the race."
I wonder who that "inside City Hall" pressure came and what that pressure was in the form of? Maybe it was the person who takes her order at the coffee shop, or maybe it's the guy who empties out the recycle bins?
I know people do not like when Bratton makes political endorsements. I think "pressure" from City Hall insiders is just as bad, and even worse, because you are preventing the other side (endorsing) from doing what YOUR side (Bratton) is doing (endorsing).
ANYWAY, who cares what pressure Villar's sinking ship puts on people...I think even Councilmembers like Janice Hahn may almost be ready to hint of being able to take a stand against Loseraigosa. And finally, I am glad to hear that Janice endorsed and supported Nuch.
Even though I attended every City Council meeting over the past year, during the course of the entire primary election, and run-off election and listen to all the talk radio shows all the time, I HAD NO IDEA?!?! NOW I know how Nuch pulled this off! And way to take a stand and stand up against the mayor the way Dennis did. (And you know what Janice, hate to throw this in, but Zuma Dogg took some risk as well, by challenging the council president and city attorney when they tried to cut me off when disucssing the matter, myself. BUT I STOOD UP!!! THEY COULD HAVE BANNED ME FOR THE DAY...Seriously, when I saw Janice in the lobby of the Universal Hilton, I ran into the party and told some people, "You won't believe who is in the lobby...Janice Hahn!" (I thought she was just there as a coincidence for some other reason.) YIKES! My bad! Anyway, glad Janice supported Nuch, and took a stand against pressure by showing up to the VICTORY PARTY.

CITIZEN'S ALERT: Jack Weiss MUST NOT BE ALLOWED To Be City Attorney! (Villaraigosa Is His Campaign Manager, For Starters)
Thank goodness Rocky Delgadilldo will no longer be City Attorney next year as he is termed out and the people of Los Angeles vote for a new City Attorney.
Mayor Antonio Villaraiogsa is backing his puppet Councilmember Jackass Weiss. It is important for Antonio to pop Weissass into the City Attorney's office so the mayor can control the direction of the office and can help keep the Mayor's mess covered up a little while longer.
It is reported by people who work at City Hall that Villaraigosa has become a mean, vindictive person as Mayor. Soooooooo many people tell tales of how he used to be a great guy; and how they used to be elbow to elbow with Antonio, and as soon as he became mayor, he slammed the door on everyone's face. (So he will not have his strongest base of his closest supporters backing Antonio for Mayor, this time.)
But this is about making sure Jack Weiss does not become City Attorney. And the point is, maybe a Villaraiogsa endorsement isn't the best thing for a candidate, right now.
HERE IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT THAT JACK WEISS DOES NOT BECOME CITY ATTORNEY AS IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME BY AT LEAST ONE COUNCILMEMBER:
(To paraphrase): Jack is such an isolated, mean-spirited, angry guy that it wouldn't be good to have that kind of person as City Attorney. AND ZD AGREES 100%!!! This does not mean you want someone who is "soft", but a City Attorney has to be likable enough to be able to run a very large staff of attorneys and work with people throughout the City. And you can't have an asshole representing the City in a legal arena.
WHO ELSE IS RUNNING?: Someone tells me that Councilmember Jan Perry may be endorsing/supporting someone who is running against Jackass Weiss. Apparently, Jan is no fan of Jack and no fan of the Mayor and will do anything to make sure Jackass doesn't become City Attorney, the same as Zuma Dogg. (So we can BOTH agree on that, if Jan is supporting someone else.)
HOWEVER, if CM Perry is supporting someone for City Attorney, then that immediately nixes that candidate for City Attorney, as well. (No offense Jan. Nothing personal. I just have a very different vision for the City than you do, and if you are supporting someone, that means that candidate is the wrong curtain, too...because:
ZUMA DOGG'S BATCOMPUTER SAYS, "CARMEN 'NUCH' TRUTANICH" IS THE CANDIDATE TO SUPPORT FOR CITY ATTORNEY!!!
I met "Nuch" at City Hall for a few minutes when he was in Council chambers a couple months ago. Dennis Zine introduced me to him at the time as, "Hey Zuma, Here's a guy you should meet. He's running against Jack Weiss for City Attorney."
As a joke, I immediately blurted out without delay, "I ENDORSE YOU!" But now, a couple months later, I think it looks like Carmen "Nuch" Trutanich is the person who MUST become the next LA City Attorney. (I don't know who else may throw their hat in the ring, but I can't think of [or haven't heard of] who else could crawl out of the woodwork at this point.)
And even if someone else does emerge, I like "Nuch" a hell of a lot. My cell phone has been out of commission for a couple weeks, but it is fixed now -- so I picked up the phone and called the candidate to aks him all my questions and find out if this is someone who I can be excited about as someone who can beat the Jackass.
AND I'D LIKE TO THANK CARMEN "NUCH" TRUTANICH FOR TAKING PLENTY OF TIME ON THE PHONE THIS AFTERNOON TO ENTERTAIN ALL OF ZD'S QUESTIONS DURING THIS PUBLIC VETTING PROCESS.
BOTTOM LINE: HELL YEAH!!! First thing Zuma Dogg is calling for is a debate between "Nuch" and "Jackass" cause after spending time in person and on the phone with "Nuch", he'll beat Jackass like a cheap, soggy pinata. Jackass comes across like Mr. Burns on the Simpsons, while Nuch is passionate, articulate, LOUD, passionate and charismatic.
When I aks him a question, he doesn't get all pensive and contemplative...he barks back the problem and then what HE would do as City Attorney.
Over the next few days, weeks and months I will blog about the City Attorney race and will type up the re-cap of the conversation I had with the City Attorney hopeful.

HIGHLIGHTS:
* Jackass has never prosecuted a case in court in his life. Nuch is an experienced prosecutor.
* Nuch says with 650 City Attorneys working in the office, the City should not be doing so much hiring of "outside counsel". Although some is necessary, it's a big joke. Nuch liked my example: City Council wouldn't want to use the City Attorney's office for their own matters. It's their equivilent of having a public defender, so they want to hire outside counsel for themselves.
NUCH added that the City has become the kid in school the bully picks on because the kid doesn't fight back. And every attorney in the City is picking on the City Attorney's Office knowing that they don't fight back. (They settle.) NUCH would make these people fight and before you know it, not as many bullies are picking on you.
* Supports people's rights to have guns in their homes to defend themselves against crime. AND, at the same time would make sure anyone who is caught with a gun, who is not supposed to have one due to probation or legal restrictions will do 180 days (for sure!) So he claims he will be cracking down HARD on criminals who have guns who are not supposed to have them, while supporting people's right to have a gun in their own homes to defend they selves. So I think that's about as winning of a "people's platform" as you can get.
* SPECIAL ORDER 40: Nuch says there is a second paragraph no one ever reads that if read, would allow the police to accomplish the goals that the Jamiel's Law crowd is calling for. (Zuma Dogg agrees. However, I still support putting Jamiel's Law on the ballot, if that's what people want. It WOULD be nice though if you didn't even NEED to change the law, or create a new one though, wouldn't it?)
* He says he is all for transparency and openess in his office as City Attorney. He says Rocky shouldn't be trying to prevent Laura Chick from auditing his office.
* He's a fighter! Nuch will tell you he's a fighter. And he's got the passion. Check him out. Weissass has to lose.
