ALERT: CalPERS portfolio lost $18 billion since July 1 (IMAGINE WHAT HAPPENED, THIS PAST WEEK, AFTER WALL STREET PLUNGE!) HOW'S L.A. CITY'S PENSION?

[PICTURED: "Dear in Headlights, CalPER lead bungler, Joe Dear. Just cause you "steeple" your hands, like you're being so insightful, does not mean you aren't a HISTORICALLY TRAGIC, MORON OF A DOUCHEBAG, YOU MORON OF A DOUCHEBAG. YOU ARE THE BIGGEST EXCUSE-MAKING CRYBABY I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY 5 YEARS+ AS A GADFLY/BLOGGER!]

FIRST OF ALL...I wonder how L.A. City pension funds are doing? They're even DUMBER and SHADIER!

BREAKING NEWS via LA TIMES (8/9/11): CalPERS portfolio has lost $18 billion in value since July 1 (Imagine how much was lost this past week, during Wall Street plunge!)

After posting its best annual performance in 14 years, the California Public Employees' Retirement System is giving back a sizable portion of the 20.7% investment return it reported for the fiscal year that ended June 30. (Because that's what happens when things are propped up on a house of cards, filled with smoke and mirrors. IT'S FAKE, y'all!)

The value of the country's largest public pension fund was $220 billion at market's close on Monday, down 7.6% or about $18 billion, CalPERS said Tuesday. [That means services, programs, education funding...EVERYTHING will be down by 7.6%, or about $18, give or take some billions.]

"It's bad, but it's not 2008," said Joseph Dear, CalPERS' chief investment officer, in an interview on CNBC. "We have a crisis induced by lack of confidence in the U.S. and European political systems, combined with gloomier and gloomier economic growth forecasts." [When you say it's not as bad as 2008, did you hop into your, "Back to the Future" DeLeorian? Cause I didn't know we recovered, are not headed further south and that the stock market closed for the last time, preventing further losses, in the future. IT IS NOT OVER LACK OF CONFIDENCE! CONFIDENCE CAN RETURN ALL IT WANTS! MANUFACTURING JOBS WILL NOT BE RETURNING, and you have proven you do not know how to "create" them...only "buy" them.]

Wall Street's massive stock sell-off that began last week "is a tipping point," Dear said, "but it's not a time to panic and run with fear out of the market." [NO! Last time you lost -20%...still PLENTY more room to go. Keep the pension money pumpin' into OVERLY-RISKY, NON-INVESTMENT GRADE, CRONY LLCs on Wall Street. (See Wetherly Capital, Elliot Broidy, Dan Weinstein, Julio Ramierz, Jr., Al Villabobos., et al.)]

CalPERS was underweight in its stock portfolio at the close of the last fiscal year and now is "considering whether we can go back in" to make long-term investments, Dear said. [YEAH, THAT'S the problem...not overly-risky investments, like Grand Ave Project and all that subprime, bubble-up, real estate...it's not the economy, everything's fine...the only problem was...wasn't betting BIG enough/not rollin' enough dice! SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED GAMBLER'S ANONYMOUS! HOW COME THE INVESTMENTS YOU MADE DIDN'T RISE, BUT TANKED?]

Though Dear said he didn't expect the U.S. economy to fall into a double-dip recession, he conceded that the outlook for short-term growth was not rosy. [WHO CARES WHAT THIS MORON THINKS, AT THIS POINT? HE JUST LOST PLENTY OF BILLIONS. HE HAS LOUSY INSIGHTS, AND MAKES LOUSY DECISIONS. But I guess, THIS TIME...he's got the fundamentals down and is all of the sudden a genius.]

Those comments contrasted with Dear's enthusiasm for the 20.7% investment return that CalPERS announced on July 18, covering the 2010-11 fiscal year.

"The portfolio is quite healthy with positive benchmark-beating gains for nearly all of our asset classes over the past year," Dear said at the time. "Global equity [public stocks], private equity, fixed income, inflation-linked and cash equivalents all did well, and our real estate portfolio is back in positive territory after reversals during the financial crisis and recession." [AND YOU ARE A MORON WHO WOULD LOSE A SIMPLE "SHELL GAME" WITH A CROOK AND HIS CREW ON NY'S TIMES SQUARE. WHEN YOU READ BACK YOUR WORDS, DO YOU SEE WHAT AN EXCUSE-MAKING, MORON, YOU ARE COMING OFF AS. A REAL SUCKER! WHY WOULD YOU HUMILIATE AND EMBARRASS YOURSELF, BY REFERRING BACK TO YOUR WINNING HAND, THAT YOU WERE NOT SMART ENOUGH TO CASH IN ON. YOU LET IT RIDE, TILL YOU LOST IT ALL...AND BILLIONS MORE! I GUESS YOU ARE IN CONTROL, SOUND AND FIT FOR THE POSITION! Like a 90's year old going up to a 20 year old....I used to be hot when I was 20. SO WHAT...no one cares...look at you now! Similarly, NO ONE CARES ABOUT MR. WHOOPTY-DOO'S PAST GAINS/CURRENT STAGGERING LOSSES!]

Zuma Dogg's Wall Street Wrap Up for 12.04.09 (Monitor The Global Economy RIGHT HERE!)

With the City of Los Angeles announcing that the city's financial future is tied to an UP rally on Wall Street to try and win back the billions they say they lost last year, Zuma Dogg has fired up his Wall Street Charts to help monitor the global economy. I loaded up my Google Finance portfolio with hundreds of ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) that represent all sectors and economies of the world. For example Gold, European/Asian/Japan/Emerging Markets, Dow, S&P, NASDAQ, FTSE, Financial, Oil, Water,Silver, Real Estate, Energy.

So throughout the day, and at the end of the day, you can sort by "change" and get a good perspective as to which way the wind is blowing at any given minute.

For example, today, a lot of the ETFs that short gold were WAY UP since GOLD took a big dive based on news throughout the day on jobs and a lot of profit taking always occurs at record levels, and there is a lot of talk about the dollar and plans to take some of them out of the market with an interest rate. The FAKE/Misleading jobs numbers that came out today, will now be used as an excuse to say, "Well, we weren't raising interest rates because of the bad job market...but now that everything is "hunky-dory" and job loss is down and the economy is re-bounding -- we can now raise the interest rates.

BUT, the job numbers are B.S. and not reflective of the REAL job loss and economic crisis. HERE'S WHY: After six months you are no longer on the unemployment list. So you may have lost your job six months ago, and now are no longer being counted anymore. Plus, people who's hours have been cut. Or you go from a $50,000 a year job to a $27,000 a year job.

More on the long-term situation, later. So here are the first two charts I like to look at throughout the day, and then again at the end of the day to see what happened,

(Sorry, you also have to do what ZD does, and click on each link to see what the stock is. You should be able to see the trends for the day. If you want the ENTIRE LIST I use to monitor that goes into these Top2o Winners and Losers, make me an offer and I'll email over to you.)

Zuma Dogg's Wall Street Closing Bell Wrap-Up: How did ZD's Picks Fare on Wall Street, Today?

Since L.A. City announced the MAJOR and MASSIVE economic and budgetary doomsday scenario that I will blog about in the next post; where the city announced that the economic recovery of L.A. is tied to pension money going back up on Wall Street, to make up for last year's MASSIVE loss of BILLIONS of dollars out of the city's treasury. (NOW ON THE VERGE OF BANKRUPTCY, CREDIT DOWNGRADE, AND THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF ELIMINATION OF ENTIRE DEPARTMENTS, CITY WIDE -- with lots of job loss and loss of services).

So I'm dusting off my Wall Street charts from the last meltdown, because I feel the markets are too volatile for the city to be rolling the dice on.

So when I feel there is a day worth taking a shot with some "picks" for the day, I'll post them, then we can look back. Here's the first warm-up pitch.

The only disclaimer is, these are closing prices at the end of the day. If I were trading these stocks...these "watchlist" picks are STRICTLY FOR DAY TRADING...and you have to monitor the market -- all day -- at all times, during trading hours*.

I went to the council meeting today, so didn't look at any of this until the closing bell. So this represents "worst case scenario" results, since some of this may have been sold at higher levels throughout the day.

So for the purpose of this excersise (to see how well I can do at the end of each day), we're going to have to judge results on a "opening bell to closing bell cycle."

HERE IS THE INITIAL POST WHEN I CRANKED THESE OUT AT 1:42AM:
zumadogg 1:42am, Dec 01 from Twitter

RT @wallstwatch: ZUMA DOGG's Wall Street Watch List for Tuesday December 1, 2009 - http://ow.ly/Hr6w

And here is how they fared at closing bell. Pretty mild day. Nothing earth shattering. I can't tel you if this would be considered "good, bad, or neutral results for a day like today. Looks pretty good, cause everything was up, except FEED*

As I get more familiar with a wider range of stocks, we may see more maximization in future days. I missed a lot of picks today because I didn't know all the symbols when I cranked this list out at 1AM...and didn't really take a second look. What I was trying to capture, were EMERGING MARKETS (China/Japan) and GOLD. So once I get all these symbols memorized and don't have to look each one up to see what it is...I'll be able to capture more BIG gainers. BUT, again, this was a first pitch on a mild day, so I'll take it.

[*EX: FEED, which was down for the day was UP on the opening, and would have dumped it before the plunge.]

Based on this page, I can see...SEED, GRO & FEED (& MOO?) could be looking good based on Monsanto news. (Only thing...SEED was UP 20% today, based on other news about the company...so that's kinda scary...but again...based on this page...those three could be BIG...BUT, since ZD is jumping in late with this...I AM NOT SAYING BUY IT NOW. THAT IS NOT MY FIRST OFFICIAL SIGN, YET.

BUT, while we're on the topic...LONG TERM...I like Gold ETFs (See List) and WATER ETFs, cause I think we are always going to need water (PIO, PHO). In the VERY NEAR future, I think OIL ETFs that SHORT oil prices will go UP (yes, I think oil prices will come down in SHORT RUN...as in "day trader" timing)...BEFORE they have to raise the prices for whatever reason they come up with. My reasoning is that global demand seems to be down, while reserves are UP...so that may drive it down -- short term...but again, ZD feels the oil sheiks are always going to end up getting the price they want, one way or the other. So if prices dip, too much...look for some oil refinery pipe to explode -- cutting off supply for a while, or something like that. (Paying them in the weak dollar will also force them to have to raise prices...cause they still want to make the same amount of profit...no matter HOW much money The US FEDS want to keep printing up. (Hope they don't dump the dollar and start accepting another currency. Maybe they'll just as to be paid in gold and diamonds. ZD would take that currency over the dollar, any day. (Can I have my EBT "General Relief" paid in YEN?
