The City Has PLENTY of Money for Fire, Police, Parks, Libraries & Services...COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MONEY! (Why is council trying to grab it and use it for OTHER THINGS?)
I have a question for L.A. City Council and especially Housing Chair HERB WESSON. (With honorable mention to Eric Garcetti.)
Every day, city council is hootin' and hollerin' how they don't have any money for libraries, parks, FIRE, POLICE...and how departments have to close and the city is falling apart under it all.
AND GOVERNOR JERRY BROWN HAS FIGURED IT OUT!:
Jerry is trying to have all that Community Redevelopment money (like CRA money) released and put back into city general funds to be allowed to provide the safety and services that the city council and mayor say are threatened and at risk.
Because the CRA is supposed to be used for "blight" but it ends up being used for "Broad" -- like museums for Eli Broad and a bunch of other billion dollar stuff that has nothing to do with fixing real and actual blight.
And the $9 billion that council is trying to "pull a fast one" over and quickly move away from the state and into the CRA coffers -- COULD BE USED FOR LOS ANGELES FIRE DEPARTMENT (LAFD).
You are putting lives at risk on a daily and hourly basis with these non-sense rolling brownouts. Someone I know had their dress catch on fire and they were burnt and it took over 28 minutes for LAFD to get to the scene.
You put the residents, business and FIREFIGHTERS & EMS WORKERS THEMSELVES at risk with these brown outs that are not needed, cause you have $9 BILLION that you could be using for this and EVERY OTHER CITY SERVICE AND CITY DEPARTMENT -- instead of continuing to give it to Eli Broad, Related Cos, and billionaire developers. (Some of who have been questioned by the FBI, but the city STILL continues to do business with.) THIS IS ALL MADNESS...
DON'T BUY THE BULLSHIT...THE CITY IS CLAIMING NO LAFD -- CAUSE THEY HAVE TO KEEP THE CRA MONEY PUMPIN' INTO THE GENERAL FUNDS OF THEIR PREFERRED BILLIONAIRE DEVELOPER CRONIES...AND IT AIN'T GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH BLIGHT...AND WE DO NOT NEED THESE MEANINGLESS, BULLSHIT PROJECTS.

He got off to a bad start, before his campaign began, when Zuma Dogg busted him in Malibu with Gary South when Newsom parked his SUV gas-guzzler in the FIRE LANE. My YouTUBE footage ended up on Eyewitness News in San Fran, along with the newspaper up there. I told him, "You're off to a bad start for governor, parking your gas-guzzler SUV in the fire zone in L.A. County!

Jerry Brown's appearance on CNBC yesterday to explain the state's lawsuit against State Street Bank turned into a battle between Brown, playing the role of a latter-day William Jennings Bryan in taking on the "Eastern financial elite," and the CNBC anchors who were very clearly playing their role as defenders of the Wall Street orthodoxy. Brown's combativeness earned him some favorable press.Now Brown seems set to milk this for all it's worth, as he steps up his attack on CNBC at the Huffington Post:
If street thugs were to hold up a convenience store and drive off with $1 million, it would be national news. But when a venerable Boston bank rips off California's two largest pension funds for $56 million, it's business-as-usual -- at least to the anchors of CNBC....But, in a commentary post today, CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera sneered at California's effort to recover $200 million in damages and penalties, using a made-up quote from Elliot Spitzer to call it "quaint."
This follows an interview Tuesday that was straight out of the Daily Show. CNBC invited me on to talk about the case, and then Caruso-Cabrera asked why I would come on the air to talk about it.
Her co-anchors seemed to have no problem with the rip-off ("as long as they quoted you a dollar and you paid the dollar, what do you care what they got it for") and questioned the integrity of the whistle-blowers ("that whistle-blower -- is that a private law firm that you guys have hired to do this for you?") Unbelievable. And for the record, the whistle-blowers are industry insiders who have yet to be named.
The tone and substance of the interview are symptomatic of the Eastern financial elite, who think that $200 million is small potatoes, and big business should be given the benefit of the doubt.
Jerry Brown has a knack for understanding which way the political winds blow, and ensuring he blows with them. Public anger at the Wall Street elite, which as Calitics alum David Dayen noted are now having British Lords explain that we all must "tolerate the inequality", is rising fast. It's smart politics to join the populist attack on Wall Street, and there's no fatter target than their apologists on CNBC, which is the Fox News of the financial world and has about as corrosive an effect on our discourse and politics as does Fox Noise.
It also helps Brown solidify the belief - mistaken, in my view - that he is an inherently progressive person. Today's Sacramento Bee carries an article looking back at Brown's days as a host for KPFA, Berkeley's legendary left-wing radio station, in the 1990s. Brown uttered some fairly progressive things at the time, including an attack on prisons.
Garry South seems to think these excerpts would hurt Brown, but I think they'll only help him. Brown's KPFA comments help reinforce the widespread notion among many Democrats that Brown is somehow a deeply progressive person - that the Jerry Brown of 1975 and of 1995 will be the Governor Brown of 2010.
Of course, as we know, the Jerry Brown of 2009 is not a supporter of prison reform (he strongly opposed Prop 5 last year and has joined Arnold Schwarzenegger in trying to remove federal oversight of state prison health care). He refuses to countenance tax increases, and has even called for new tax cuts.
Anything that distracts attention from those decidedly anti-progressive positions helps Brown maintain the support of progressive Dems who see him as someone who shares their values.
It certainly helps that Brown still is as media-savvy as anyone. So it makes perfect sense for Brown to continue to play the populist against the banks. It is very much the right thing to do from a policy perspective, and is only going to help his cause in the Democratic primary.

City of Los Angeles Medical Marijuana Ordiance (Zuma Dogg Says They Really Want To Shut 'Em All Down...DO NOT BE BAMBOOZLED BY YOUR COUNCILMEMBER)
[I don't trust this guy when it comes to City of L.A.'s Medical Marijuana "regulation." Regulation does not mean passing laws that can shut almost every one down if you choose.]Here is the new ordinance drafter in April of 2008, then sat on for another year, until the situation has become a legal nightmare for the city. NOTE: HERE IS WHAT THE CITY NEEDS TO READ IF THEY ARE CONCERNED WITH NON-COMPLIANT OPERATIONS: Whereas; the Medical Marijuana Program Act of 2003 provides for the association of primary caregivers and their qualified patients to cultivate marijuana. (If City Council does not understand the significance of this "Whereas", I am available to consult with the city to let them know why this is important, but I'm sure SOMEONE in City Hall already knows where ZD is going with this.)
If you read this ordinance, if they are ever able to approve it, I'm sure some of the dispensaries (called "collectives" by the City Attorney's office) would probably close due to the expense of compliance (see PDF file) or be closed down by LAPD inspections that could begin once this is passed.
Two things I do not like. The crackdown on cookies. Seriously, they are cracking down on edibles. Although it will still be possible to provide edibles, looks like it's going to be harder to be legally compliant. And edibles are VERY IMPORTANT, DUMMIES, because a lot of people CANNOT SMOKE due to the reason they need the medication...so edibles are the only option.
And edibles provide a completely different type of relief, and for seriously ill patients in serious pain, it's ALL about the edibles, not the marijuana itself as smoked. SO THAT'S NOT SMART.
AND, YOU CANNOT PUT A 1000 FOOT RULE INTO EFFECT, UNLESS YOU GRANDFATHER IN ALL THE COLLECTIVES ALREADY OPEN.
You allowed them to open through your inaction; and now you want to put in a 1000 foot restriction from not only all schools, libraries, places of religious worship, licensed child care facilities, licensed youth facilities including camps, hostels and youth clubs...
AND ANY OTHER MEDICAL MARIJUANA FACITLITY!!!
WHERE THE FUCK IS THAT ANYWHERE IN CITY LIMITS, Y'ALL!!!

(BUT, you are too dumb and/or lazy, and you don't have the ordinance in effect, so you can't get them on it.)
CM LaBong, who is not a bad guy, just misinformed perhaps, says this collective is too close to a library. Unfortunately, there is no ordinance in effect yet, regulating this distance, so you will lose in court, plus the dispensary was already there before the library.
NEXT: They say it is in an "industrial zone." Sorry Tom, that's Industrial/Commercial zone and it's on Melrose and Cauhenga...what the hell industrial only zone are you talking about? YOU AREN'T...

Sorry Bill.]Well by now, an ex-President, ex-Governor, some Attorney Generals, NY news reporters and a bunch of current money launderers and their crony politicians may now be checking into this blog from time to time, or all the time, so I wanted to introduce myself and maybe you'll understand why I am so committed to EXPOSING cowardly acts of corruption, wherever it may be.
My name is Zuma Dogg and I am the greatest comedic improv performer alive, and probably of all time, although I think Jackie Gleason was good, too.
As I was pursuing my dream, I was selling my Zuma Dogg T-shirts on the beach side of the Venice Beach Ocean Walk (boardwalk).
On March of 2006, an LAPD cop comes up to me and tells me that I can no longer sell my Zuma Dogg shirts on the beach, and people couldn't sell handmade jewelery and candles and incense and other handmade items.
It wasn't the polices' fault. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaragiosa passed an illegal, unconstitutional law, on top of Federal law.
My friends and I went down to City Hall to let them know that T-shirts were protected under the FIRST Amendment, along with the other banned items.
Well, I found out Villaraigosa and his political thugs don't give a shit about Federal Law and I was told, "The City of Los Angeles runs the City, and if you don't like it sue."
Well, since then, I have become homeless and my life turned upside down, and I have turned into a bunch of Bruce Springsteen songs off the "Darkness on the Edge of Town" album. "Badlands" is my political theme song, and title track "Darkness on the Edge of Town" is my personal theme song, sad to say. And sometimes I feel like I'm walking "Streets of Fire."
So I am ONE pissed off dude! I don't have money and attorney's to sue, but blog space and wi-fi is free, so Bill, Andrew, Ron, Darius, Dan, Vicky and the rest of ya...

AG CUOMO'S SWEEPING INDICTMENT IN PAY-TO-PLAY KICKBACK SCHEME AT THE NEW YORK STATE COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE IN JEOPARDY AS PAST AND PRESENT OF KEY WITNESS BARRETT N. WISSMAN IS REVEALED. Chairman of IMG Artists, 47 year old Barrett Nathaniel Wissman, is the key witness and, as Kenneth Lovett of the New York Daily News reports, is known as John Doe 1 in the New York state Indictment and as Individual A in the related SEC Indictment. Wissman has a major role in this corruption scandal according to the indictments. It is now known that, in a plea agreement for cooperation and being an informant against former partners, clients, and other fund managers, Wissman made a deal with the AG's office where he plead guilty to a felony and a misdemeanor and agreed to pay $12 million over a specified period.
This plea agreement is obviously better for Wissman than the potential criminal sentencing that he is facing not including the new potential charges of conspiracy to commit treason.
Wissman is the 95% owner of IMG Artists, a management company for classical musicians, opera stars, and special events. Wissman is married to Russian Cellist Nina Kotova. The remaining 5% of IMG Artists is owned by the parent company, IMG, which is a portfolio company of Forstmann Little. The Chairman of IMG is Theodore (Ted) Forstmann. Wissman is also a long time partner in many investments with businessman and sports-team owner Clark K. Hunt.
Hunt is the son of Lamar Hunt founder of the American Football League and grandson of oil man H.L. Hunt.
Wissman's ownership of IMG Artists is held by W Artists, LLC. W Artists is owned by an offshore entity located in Jersey (Channel Islands). It is believed that Wissman does most of his business through offshore trusts and other entities in order to avoid US Income Taxes, part of Plaintif's First Amended Original Petition in Harris County & Texas, Case No. 2002-65222 EOS Partners, LP, et al., v. Novo Networks, Barrett Wissman, Clark K. Hunt, et. al. Wissman and Hunt, previously residents of Dallas, Texas, relocated a principal part of their business to Nevis and St. Croix and declared residents of St. Croix for a significant period as a tax avoidance scheme.
This tax avoidance tactic is presently under review by the Federal Government as it is alleged that they did not meet the business employment or days in residence requirement. Sources close to Wissman have noted that Wissman is in the process of obtaining a Dubai passport. It has been alleged that Wissman and his Russian wife plan to relocate outside of the United States and have no intention of paying the $12 million plea arrangement.
According to previous lawsuits and other sources, this is not the first time that Mr. Wissman has turned against former investors and family. Mr. Wissman has been involved with numerous lawsuits dating back to the late 1980's including one in which a judge found him guilty of fraud and forgery, final judgement, District Court 225th Judicial District, Bexar County, Texas, Case no. 89CI-17784. In another case, investors sued Wissman and his partner Hunt for deceiving investors and filing false revenue reports. In yet a third case, a partner alleged that Wissman did not properly disclose certain material facts and improperly reported the financial data of a public company known as Novo Networks, part of Plaintiffs First Amended Original Petition in EOS Partners v. Novo Networks as cited above.
The AG and the SEC indictments allege that the pay-to-play corruption conspiracy scandal reaches the highest levels of business and politics. Wissman has allegedly profited in the millions of dollars and has orchestrated the placement of the New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF) in the investment of over $1 billion. Many of the financial world's top investment managers were clients of Wissman along with indicted Henry "Hank" Morris. The two allegedly did business and shared placement fees for investments by NYSCRF in such investments managers including: The Carlyle Group, Consulting Services Group (CSG), Aldus Equity, Clessidra Fund, Quadrangle, Mezzacappa Management, Clinton Group, Pacific Corporate Group (PCG) CapitalPartners, and Access Capital Advisors.
In addition, Wissman used his influence to have NYSCRF invest over $100 million in funds that are controlled by Wissman and Hunt, including, Hunt Financial Ventures, Trinity Hunt, and Easton Hunt. Suprisingly, Hunt has not yet been charged and is denying any knowledge of Wissman’s actions even though he either owns, manages, or controls these funds.
Wissman also attempted to raise money and place investments with the New York City Pension Funds. During due diligence performed by New York City and their consultants, much of what is revealed above concerning Wissman came to light. As a result, New York City declined to invest and do business with Wissman.
The new reports of Wissman’s conspiracy to commit treason are presently in the hands of the office of Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, but the office has not yet acted considering the damage these reports would do to their case. It is now known that the following memo has been put before senior staff at the office of the AG;
Re: URGENT MATTER – ILLEGAL TRANSFER OF RESTRICTED MILITARY TECHNOLOGY
I am writing to you concerning an urgent matter. I have learned that the Chairman of IMG Artists, Barrett N. Wissman is involved in an unlawful transfer of restricted military technology, including a violation of both United States and Israel International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The restricted military technology in question is discussed in further detail below. I believe that transferring this restricted military technology in violation of law may negatively impact the United States, our troops in Iraq or Afghanistan, and Israel.
As described more fully below, the Chief Executive Officer of IMG Artists, XXXXX, telephone number XXXXX, and the Chief Financial Officer of IMG Artists, XXXXX, telephone number XXXXX, have already refused the directive of Mr. Wissman to sign the relevant documentation that is required to transfer the restricted technology. This documentation requires the signor to fully certify the end user. Both XXXXX and XXXXX are prepared to cooperate with the relevant federal authorities. They are also fully prepared to provide sworn affidavits and testify as necessary including as a witness in federal court.
Wissman has arranged a quid pro quo that, in exchange for arranging this illegal transaction, Sheik Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will invest over $100 million in one or more of Wissman’s companies. It is believed that after the Sheik obtains possession of the restricted military equipment, he intends to transfer it to Chinese authorities. It is also believed that once the Chinese obtain this technology, they will reverse engineer it, use it at will and/or transfer it to Iran as well as others. Wissman has made multiple trips to the UAE and China in an effort to arrange this unlawful transfer.
Wissman has conspired with the Sheik to illegally acquire the restricted military technology from the Camero Company of Israel. The technology that Wissman is attempting to illegally acquire and transfer is known as the Xaver 800 High Performance, ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance). The device is a portable, high performance sensor system, optimized for gathering instant and accurate real-time information from behind solid walls. The Xaver 800’s superior object resolution provides information about room dimensions and major infrastructure elements as well as a quick location of people hidden by walls and barriers. The technology tracks the movement patterns of people to support differentiation between victims and hostiles. This Camero technology requires evidence of the end user and is restricted from sale to the UAE 2 by both Israel and the United States. Barrett N. Wissman is the 95% owner of IMG Artists, a management company for classical musicians, opera stars and special events. The remaining 5% of IMG Artists is owned by the parent company, IMG, which is a portfolio company of Forstmann Little. The Chairman of IMG is Theodore (Ted) Forstmann. Wissman is 47 years old and married to Russian Cellist Nina Kotova.
Wissman’s ownership of IMG Artists is held by W Artists, LLC, a Delaware based LLC. W Artists is owned by an offshore entity called Sienna Continuity Trust, a Jersey Island Trust. The trust administrator is Jane Dee of Europlan Trust.
Wissman’s first attempt to obtain the technology was by acquiring it from the UK Distributor, the Pilgrims Group. Wissman directed XXXXX, XXXXX, and XXXXX (Chief Counsel of IMG Artists) to receive and sign for the technology when delivered. They became very suspicious and refused to sign for the technology when Wissman was not able to provide a legal end user.
Due to the refusal of the executives of IMG Artists to cooperate, Wissman has now created a new offshore entity under the umbrella of the Sienna Continuity Trust. The new entity is being called IMG Artists International and was formed for the purpose of carrying out the illegal activity of Wissman.

Subpoenas issued in pension fund corruption investigation
Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown is looking into 'placement agents' who help secure pension fund investment contracts for clients, often in return for millions of dollars.
Wetherly Capital, a Los Angeles-based placement firm run by Dan Weinstein, was mentioned but not charged in the New York indictment, which said Wetherly paid $313,000 in fees to companies controlled by Hank Morris, an indicted political aide to former New York Comptroller Alan Hevesi.
Two weeks ago, former Wetherly employee Julio Ramirez Jr. pleaded guilty to securities fraud and agreed to cooperate in the New York investigation.
Gold Bridge, operated out of San Francisco and Sacramento by Darius Anderson, a prominent Capitol lobbyist, and his brother Kirk Anderson, has received at least $5.2 million in placement fees for deals with New York's pension fund and has received fees for investment deals at CalPERS, California's public retirement fund, and CalSTRS, a teachers' fund, documents show. Both Wetherly and Gold Bridge were subpoenaed by Cuomo three weeks ago for documents relating to their licenses.
Harrigan and Broidy stepped down from the Fire and Police Pensions board after receiving letters from the SEC. The letters asked Harrigan and Broidy to reveal any contact they may have had with three firms under review in the pension inquiry there.
They also were asked to identify all of their income since Jan. 1, 2005, and any money they may have earned from firms seeking business from their board. Broidy and Harrigan said earlier this month that they had committed no wrongdoing but believed they had become a distraction for the pension agency.
Broidy is the co-founder of Markstone Capital Group, a private equity firm in Los Angeles. When he stepped down from the Los Angeles board two weeks ago, Broidy said he was cooperating with various investigating agencies and had "never profited in any way" from his work overseeing the $11-billion investment portfolio. Reporting from Los Angeles and Sacramento -- An ongoing investigation into pension fund corruption across the country intensified Friday as California Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown directed subpoenas at politically connected firms and individuals, according to sources familiar with the investigation.
Brown issued the subpoenas as part of a probe into "placement agents" who help secure pension fund investment contracts for their clients in return for large sums of money, often millions of dollars.

October 8th, 2001 was the first board meeting of the Wetherly Capital Group that I attended and where I received a copy of that most incriminating “voter fraud” document detailing the connection between Richard Dick Ziman’s Wetherly Capital Group with extraordinarily close ties to former Democratic California Gray Davis, and William Simon, the son of the billionaire former Secretary of the Treasury, who was the Republican candidate for Governor in the upcoming November 2002 Gubernatorial elections.
I arrived some 15 minutes late for October 8th “strategy meeting” which was held in the office next to the Chairman of the Board of the Wetherly Capital Group.

L.A. City Attorney Candidate JACK WEISS TIED to GUILTY Weatherly Capital FEDERAL Verdict!
The press is missing the boat on the incestuous relationship between Wetherly Capital, DAV Wetherly, Dan Weinstein, Vicky Schiff, Richard Ziman, Peter Borges, Rexford Industrial, American Value Partners (AVP), and Arden Realty.
Wetherly Capital and its owners Weinstein, Schiff, Borges, and Ziman are deeply embroiled in the New York, New Mexico, Los Angeles, and possibly nationwide (Connecticut and others) pension fund scandal involving placement agents.
The New York and Federal indictments state that Wetherly shared placement fees with indicted Hank Morris around the country including, New Mexico, California, and Los Angeles.
And now, yesterday, Julio Ramirez has plead guilty to charges that NY Attorney Genral Cuomo says includes two illegal "money laundering" transactions involving Wethery Capital and names Dan Weinstein, again all of this tying to the Hank Morris arrest.
Ramirez is going to co-operate in this Federal investigation, and it's going to get ugly when he starts talking and everyone is throwing dirt everyone else's way to cover their own asses.
Some people I talk to, because I value their "take" on all of this DO BELIEVE THIS WILL WORK IT'S WAY ALL THE WAY UP TO THE MAYOR'S OFFICE. (And maybe even the mayor himself.) All over the exact shady "commissioner appointments" that Zuma Dogg has been blasting about for one solid year; and was sure to spend a minutes worth of time during my three minute mayoral TV spot for Channel 35, when NO ONE IN THE CITY WAS SCREAMING ABOUT THE PENSION COMMISSIONERS, EXCEPT ZUMA DOGG!
And I screamed it over, and over and over and over, on the record, before city council and on TV 35; along with massive blogging.
In addition, when I did an article for LA Weekly regarding the Grand Avenue Project, I saw that LACERS pension money was invested in the project.
I had never hear of LACERS and didn't know anything about city employee pension funds, but when I found out it was public money for people's retirements; and I knew what I believed to be a LEMON of a project (Grand Ave Project) that would never get off the ground, and was MUCH TOO RISKY OF AN INVESTMENT FOR WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE INVESTMENT GRADE INVESTMENTS OF THE MOST IMPORTANT MONEY IN THE CITY.
I blogged and commented before council, until for whatever reason (either because they came to their own conclusions about the project; or because ZD MADE them aware (and "EXPOSED IT" as Schwarzenegger told me to keep doing, yesterday when we met, briefly, yet effectively, in person, yesterday, where I personally told him, face to face that this whole pension scandal will tie to Wetherly and that Dan Weinstein is in big trouble.
Later that evening, after blogging about Julio Ramirez over the previous 24 hours, and after my face to face discussion with the Governor about it, he pleads "guilty" to security exchange fraud tied to Wetherly Capital and two transactions that the NY Attorney General call, "money laundering."
And Wetherly Capital's head honcho/shot caller/Godfather, whatever you want to call the main financial backer who calls the shots at the top, RICHARD ZIMAN, held a campaign fundraiser for CITY ATTORNEY CANDIDATE JACK WEISS...AT ZIMAN'S HOME...ALSO HOSTED BY DAN WEINSTEIN!!!
The same fundraiser that Villaraigosa's pension board appointee resigned over!!!
And that was the third Villaraigosa commissioner to step down following the resignations of Sean Harrigan and Elliott Broidy on the heels of the SEC inquiry into the two.
And now, Wetherly's former pension fund "front man" for Dan Goldstein (see LA Daily Blog) Jose Ramirez pleads GUILTY to charges involving Wetherly.
AND THE "GODFATHER" OF WETHERLY, RICHARD ZIMAN HAS A FUNDRAISER AT HIS HOUSE FOR JACK WEISS WITH A PENSION COMMISSIONER AS WETHERLY CAPITAL IS ABOUT TO ALL COME TUMBLING DOWN IN A FEDERAL SWEEP THAT WILL BE THE BIGGEST THING WE'VE SEEN SINCE WATERGATE!!!
And they are backing Jack Weiss???
And Villaraigosa is behind Jack Weiss as his campaign backer, with all the same campaign staff, and all the help from Villar's pension commissioners and Wetherly Capital...ALL PUSHING FOR JACK WEISS???
Now I know there are a lot of important issues in the City and a lot of things to consider when choosing a City Attorney candidate.
But as many of you know, there is even much more regarding Jack Weiss and his choice of cronies throwing fundraisers for his campaign. (See Fox 11 News website for story on Jack Weiss fundraiser held by a white collar crime felon.)
HE'S RUNNING FOR CITY ATTORNEY!
So I am here to say, not to be a one issue guy, but this is an issue that absolutely OVERWHELMS me when thinking about the City Attorney election next week, Tuesday May 19th.
How can you elect a City Attorney whose main campaign backers are felons, Wetherly Capital folks (who are now tied to Ramirez and his arrest, and now it's ALL going to come tumbling down), and they were all probably pushing for Jack so hard, because they needed him in there to cover the tracks because they are headed to City Hall and the mayor's office, from what I am told.
It depends how deep they decided to probe. But spidey senses say, "yes" to "mayor's office."
THAT'S IT REALLY FOR ME. I know there are other issues other people consider, but I PERSONALLY BELIEVE, and anyone who knows me or reads this blog or works at a radio station knows that I feel this pension scandal (now called "pensiongate") is again, an OVERWHELMING issue when you look at what is wrong with the city.
THIS IS THE ISSUE THAT WILL CAUSE THE CITY TO FALL INTO BANKRUPTCY, SOONER THAN LATER...YOU MARK MY WORDS!!! And it's over the $7 billion loss of pension money on Wall Street, in the hands of these pension commissioners, appointed and re-appointed by Villaragiosa that is a bigger problem than the Neighborhood Council budget or ANY OTHER SINGLE ISSUE YOU CAN THINK OF!
THE CITY LOST $7 BILLION IN PENSION MONEY IN THE HANDS OF PEOPLE THAT ARE NOW BEING CALLED "MONEY LAUNDERERS" WHO INVESTED IN "SHILL" COMPANIES!
AND THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES IS NOW ON THE HOOK FOR THIS MONEY AND IN 2013, CITY OFFICIALS INFORMED COUNCIL THAT 56% OF EVERY DOLLAR WILL BE GOING TO BAIL OUT THE PENSION FUND.
I have known City Attorney Candidate Carmen Trutanich since the day he started making the rounds in the community during the first election (this Tuesday is the run-off election between Jack Weiss and Trutanich).
And I like Carmen a lot. I like the way he explains his vision for the city attorney's office...what the problems are with the current office; what kind of City Attorney he would be, and I really LOVED IT!
I have to remember back to those inital conversations that were so refreshing and really knocked me out (Nuch is a boxer, anyway), so much so that I took him around to some of the neighborhood meetings, introduced him to all my CD 14 activist friends, all the SLAP people, the DWP meetings, I posted YouTubes, spoke on TV 35 about Nuch...and it's been a long time...seems like a LIFETIME ago since we recorded those videos at the Casa Princesa.
And I'd like to add in all objectivity (pulling out my Deming 14 point notes from the seminar I attended in 1990): We really have no idea what kind of city attorney EITHER candidate would be, in the day to day realities of the job.
We can merely make "predictions" based on what we hear and what we know from previous performance.
BUT ALL I KNOW...AS BIG ZD, ZUMA DOGG, SPENDING THREE YEARS ATTENDING THESE COUNCIL MEETINGS; scanning agenda; listening to insiders; and REALLY looking at the BIG LEVEL corruption that is the ROOT of all of the day-to-day (now) "small potato' problems Zuma Dogg and others have been griping about...
THIS PENSION SCANDAL IS IT...AND NOW IT TIES TO THE CITY ATTORNEY CANDIDATE IN A WAY THAT IS SO STRONG...

UPDATE: MORE San Fransisco Coverage of Zuma Dogg (NOW With Averell "Ace" Smith)
If I had to be mentioned in the same article as someone named, "Ace," I would have preferred it to be "Ace" Frehley, not the shallow, no-talent spin-loser Averell "Ace" Smith who hasn't done a THING to help his boss (Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraiogsa) score a single point against Zuma Dogg on the blogs over the past two and a half years.
